ALL ABOARD!
|
What do you do?
Your health is more important than whatever they might be paying you. You know about the mouse droppings. What else don't you know about?

Darn rights you deserve better than that....I don't care what you do.
I don't know for sure....but your boss might be liable for a lawsuit if he doesn't get things cleaned up. That, or he might get shut down.

I'm a draftsperson, so I'm at my desk virtually all day. I feel like saying "i'm working from home until you get it cleaned up' but I don't know if I can do that. Also, how do we determine how bad it might be around here?

Phone the health department and get them to come over and have a look. Chances are they will shut the place down until the mice problem has been delt with.

2 of us here at work now have an eye that waters extremely often and gets crusty. I need to call somebody about this. It's not real bad, but mice feces is common, and whatever else is around we can't actually see or smell.

Start sending out resumes and use your boss as a reference. When he gets the call he'll know it's time to clean up his act and his basement.

I told him to do something, and he said he'd buy more traps, cause that's what an exterminator would do. Total BS I know, but what can I do eh?

Your health is the most important thing here.
Go to a doctor and figure out what it is you have. If you have something that the doctor can attribute to your work enviroment, file a WCB claim. Do not work in the enviroment untill your boss has it cleaned up. I think if you file a WCB claim due to something like this he is required to clean it up before they will clear you to go back to work.
After that your boss should get the message, if he doesn't then at least he will get the increased WCB premium bill and you will not have to work in that enviroment to get paid.

You can call the numbers listed above and do something about it.
I'm sure there are about 17,500 other jobs in Calgary that don't have mouse poop all over the place for you to breathe in first thing in the morning.

What kind of drafting do you do? I could very likely find you a place to work at that doesn't have mice and isn't in a basement.
