I can house sit. Cheap security for a holiday!!!!! Games are being held at Fletcher's Fields which is apparently in Markham. Knowing nothing about Toronto that does not mean much to me but perhaps some CPer is located nearby?

Hey, hey! I live in Toronto, girlfriend is in Markham, and I'm up there regularly. Unfortunately, I'm real poor, and don't have a place I could set you up with...Been to the city before? You'll like it. Markham is north of the city of Tarawna itself, but not too far. Easy to get back and forth via the bus and subway.

Thanks Dis. I'm working on it. Cheese gave me some good info on cheap tickets. $169 on a web sale. Just have to find a cheap place to stay in Markham to pull it off.

The field is just off the 404 on 19th Ave. That's where I'm concentrating my search as I'm not going to rent a vehicle to save costs.

How are you going to get around without a car?

If I end up at a hotel it will be one within walking distance of the field. The team is going to a Blue Jays game on the Thursday and I'll mooch a ride off another parent if I go to that. I don't have much choice. Have to do it on the cheap or not at all.

And how will you get to the hotel in the first place?
That's not exactly the most pedestrian friendly place that you're going to be since a quick look on Google Maps makes it look like its out in the country.

Lots of buses going around that area, it isn't the country if it's just off the 404 on 19th Avenue. It's nowheres near Toronto proper, but there are Viva buses and everything else running through that area by Richmond Hill.

If I were you, JF, I'd look for something as close to Richmond Hill as possible (if the field is in the south). It goes almost to Bayview (a street I am on often) on 19th Avenue, but certainly not to Leslie. You can get south onto Leslie though and get a bus if you're close by it...
Here's a good map for you, if you're looking at bus transit in the area. YRT handles it.
