How to make friends in new condo
So me and my roomate moved into a new Condo complex. Brand new building lots of people. We are trying to figure out the best way to meet other owners. We have tried putting up a come in for a beer sign on our door but since we are on the third floor out of four and there is only a handfull of people moved in on the third floor and nobody on the fourth its making it quite hard.
Why question is how do you go about trying to meet and make friends with people in the complex without seeming to creepy. We have a huge hd tv and lots of beer for all sporting events but not one person has even knocked on the door. Who doesn't want free beer!

I was thinking about a hookers and blow sign but wouldn't that make some of the people think we are creepy?

That's not fair, Captain! How are fat people supposed to get skinny without exercise and some blow?
In all seriousness, keep the sign but maybe prop your door open. Makes people more at ease with stopping by to meet you.

Yes prop your door open, since you said you had an HD T.V. and beer.
Whats your address again.
Do you have any guns, mace, home defense objects in your condo?
While I'm at it, I'm looking for some artwork, and a new Stereo, do you have any of that?

Just ride the elevator up and down all day and then talk to people as they get on and tell them to come by for a beer. I doubt most people would knock on a door that said free beer without knowing the person first. Once they find out you're normal, they probably won't have a problem coming by.

ya the door is not closed shut but maby if we prop it open even more. What if we taped a party of people laughing and played it on a cd player by the door to make it sound like everyone inside is having so much fun

Watch the Steve Martin movie the Lonely guy, then get to work with the scissors and cardboard cutouts.

Just play music at an insane volume, when they come to complain tell them that you threw them a party.
That or wander around the entire building carrying enormous garbage bags and a dirty shovel. You will make friends fast.

Is this a condo or rez? Seriously, most people in a Condo will want to stick to themselves these days. Gone are the days of rez where you can prop your door open and have parties all the time.

Hire one of those trade show girls who try to get you to go to a companies booth, but instead explain to them that your condo is like the trade show booth so they don't get confused.

Go to the condo board meeting and attempt to get some corrupt memebers thrown off the board (particularily investors who own say 10 suites and attempt to monopolize the board. Thats what I did. I made a few friends (mostly older chinese people) and some enemies.
A multi family complex isnt truely complete until you have some friends and enemies.

I agree with Black Arc, a lot of people do like to stick to themselves these days, and for some reason won't go out of their ways to meet new people. That said, I'm sure it'll just take time, after a while you'll start to recognize faces, then you could strike up a conversation, invite whoever over for a hockey or football game, then from there random gatherings are easy. As well you could plan an event say a flames playoff game or UFC fight, hang a flyer in the lobby on the bulletin board (there should be one) saying come by large HD tv, free food and beer, if you give enough notice people my stop by.
Come on Capitan, you of one should know better with the hookers and blow thing, gotta be more discreet, I tried that at my condo complex damn copper in suite 306 brought the SWAT team to my place during a flames playoff game of all times .
