Devils Potential Deals

Well, I thought I'd make a post to try and stimulate some trading here on my part - it's been quiet around the Devils' office lately.

Guys who could be moved - mostly looking for picks of varying quality:

Sarich
Klee
Melichar
Wallin
Tellqvist

Also interested in possibly trading down both of my first round picks in this draft for other picks in this draft.

Let me know if you are interested in any of this. Could also move Fritsche as well in the right deal.

Devils have sent Melichar packing to the Flyers for a bag of pucks and the Rangers' 3rd round pick this year, and have also sent their own first round pick to the Wild in exchange for the Sharks' and the Panthers'.

Everything else I mentioned, along with my four current draft picks, is still open for discussion.

The Habs have acquired defenseman Niclas Wallin in return for Suchy and a 2nd round draft pick. Suchy hasn't been playing in the NHL for the last two years and we needed a defenseman badly. Wallin is playing Top 4 minutes in Carolina and we plan on resigning him next year. I hate giving up draft picks in a supposedly strong draft year but it was a move we needed to make.

Oops forgot to comment on the monster deal the Flyers pulled off.

The Flyers are pleased to announce that they have acquired premier defenseman Joseph Melichar from the New Jersey Devils for a third round draft pick. We feel that Melichar is the key piece in the Flyers puzzle and makes us the clear favorite to come out of the Howe (or Gretzky whichever conference we are in).

A third rounder is tough to give up but considering it was from the mighty New York Rangers we feel fine giving it away. Plus with the strong farm system and prospect pool in the ECHL the Flyers look great for the future.

One unfortunate side effect from the deal was the fact that stupid GM moon forgot that Vigier and others were coming off the IR and may have erred in regards to cap space. Oh well Zherdev needed to work on his bus riding skills and was anxious to take Andy Delmore's per diem in heated games of Fish at the back of the bus on the way to the fast-paced night life of Rockford!

GM moon has confidence that Ryan Johnson (5 OV points lower) will do a great job filling in for the talented Ukrainian for the short term.

You're luckey Zherdev was so crappy last year that he had his rating knocked down to 73....Overwise there'd be a line of teams to claim him on recall!

I made he sure that he sufficiently sucked enough that he would be able to be recalled without concern.

That is going to be key with young guys I acquire. They can't be so good that they can be reclaimed when I send them down to hide the mistakes that I make!
