This was reported in 2000 I believe and didn't get much traction. Unless the lady confirms the accusation(she denied it in 2000) it won't go anywhere.

It's the Times, which, to its everlasting shame described itself as a "liberal" newspaper a few years ago, that's already having to defend itself.
The entirety of the Times article actually had some good information regarding ethics vis-a-vis some of McCain's actions . . . . . but that's all going by the wayside with the singularly unprofessional manner in which the Times pushed the affair allegations to the top of the heap.
For the record, the Times endorsed John McCain for the Republican race.

The story here isn't the sex scandal, it's the favors he's doing for lobbyists. The American public will see this as 'more of the same'. That will be it's long term effect.

To quote Chris Rock:
"Its not 'Reverend' Clinton, its 'President' Clinton"
Theres also reports that JFK had to have 3 women PER DAY to satisfy his animal lust. I just don't see a corellation between a politicians sex life and political life.

The sooner we all stop worrying about political candidates' private lives, the better off we'll be. Maybe he had an affair, maybe he didn't. In the end, who cares? What's important is the job he'll do if elected. I'm not a supporter of McCain's, but I hope people start thinking about his vision long before they worry about his sex life.

I'm sure John McCain has access to top shelf, extremely discreet whores (as imagine many rich old white men do). Based on that and his track record, it seems impossible that his desire to get his Jimmy waxed would allow a lobbyist to manipulate him.
Plus, I love that damn quote.

People should do the same thing with Obama. Actually....Hillary should do the same thing with Obama.
Because you KNOW she is NOT going to go down easily.
In other words....expect a tirade of personal attacks to fly back and forth until the primaries are over.

Oh yes, that's it for sure.
After all, John McCain has an unmatched voracious appetite for pork which just proves how willing he is to scratch backs and have his scratched.

Incredibly irrelevant comparison.
But what else would a republican do?
An association with a lobbyist would undermine his image as an opponent of special interests

Garbage comment... peter12 is right, your credibility is shot.
Attacks like that are so weak, ignorant and unnecessary. We get that you dont like Bush, but to label all Republicans. Lame.

I don't really get it. The story was a no-go back in 2000, so unless something has changed (which it hasn't really by the sound of it), then I don't see why it's an issue.
Claims of coziness are just that unless there is solid proof.

Not much different from what Karl Rove accused him of back in 2000.
Here is an article.

So lets see. You've got three stories on your desk. In the first a presidential candidate's husband is being sued for 17 million because of alleged campaign fraud. In the second a presidential candidate is being accused of cocaine use and adulterous sex with a man on two occasions. The homosexual man has agreed to a lie detector test(next Tuesday) and is suing said candidate for harrassment and trying to silence him. In the third you have a rehashed story of suspected adultery that is 8 years old with no witnesses who claim to seeing any wrong doing. O and the third involves a Republican.
Naturally you report on the Republican. Does anybody still believe that the media is unbiased?

I can't stop you from thinking it's 'weak'. That said, the original comment was just as shallow and weak. My comment was a response to something that was very irrelevant, so taken in context it was more appropriate. I have no problem attacking republicans. Their primary tactic in this campaign is going to be going after lack of experience, lack of true war knowledge ...extra. A lot of the rhetoric we see in the next eight months will be of this type. To say it completely shoots down my credibility as a poster is a vast over statement. I'd suppose the reaction is only natural, seeing as McCain did the same thing.
