Oilers congratulate Nikolai Zherdev on being named rookie of the week. Nikolai is one of the elite offensive talents in the game today. While still young he does tend to get lost on the ice, and not be able to find the defensive zone. Still Zherdevs puck handling and passing abilities bring fans to the edge of their seats. The Oilers believe Zherdev will contend for this award several times throughout the remainder of the season, and will eventually be a consistant threat to win player of the week awards. The Oilers also feel he is the least ugliest European among this weeks winners, fix that hair Johnsson!!!!

The Oilers look forward to their tilt with the Jackets later this week. With games against the Jackets and division rival Avs the Oilers have the opportunity to state to the league if they're a contender, or just happy to be in the hunt this week. So far the Oilers have risen to the occasion vs. stronger competition, only to forget to bring their A game vs. what look to be overmatched opponents on paper.
