Going to Montreal! Any Suggestions?
Well, looks like I'm heading to Montreal for the first time over the long weekend.
Can anyone recommend anything that is a must-see/must-do?

If you like live music, there is an Irish pub on Crescent Street called Hurleys. I saw a couple good bands play there. Sam Murphy? Steve Murphy? Something like that... Trio... Definitely good.

gotta go to the Bell Centre for sure. Might be tough to get tickets this year, they're actually playing well.

I made a pretty lenghty post in this thread about things to see in Montreal.
http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=44121
I live in Montreal, so if you have any specific questions, feel free to send me a PM.
As for Habs tickets, they're pretty well impossible to get, but they do release a few extra tickets on the 15th of each month, so that's the your best bet besides the scalpers.
Also, for Captain Crunch, F1 weekend is in June, so you can try and get tickets to that if that interests you.

Crescent St is for Americans and 16 year olds. Check out St Lawrence St and don't forget most restaurants are BYOB.

Yep screw Crescent Street.
St. Laurent is where all the hopping clubs and nice restaurants are. Also a stroll along Prince Arthur to St. Denis gives more Montreal feeling. St. Denis, while cute is far more french.

Thats cool. I had a great time when I went. One piece of advice: bring ear plugs. It is loud. Seriously loud. I work about 10km from the track and I can hear it at work, to give you an idea.

Was more French.... It's slowly changing. The nicer placer and cheaper prices are attracting more mixed crowds now. Imo, St. Denis > St. Laurent > Crescent.
The only decent place on Crescent is Brutopia. Its below St. Catherine's, so it doesn't get as much attention and they brew their own beer which is not too bad. It's nowhere near the level of Dieu du Ciel though for quality of beer. Best brewpub in Canada, imo.
