I turned it off. There's too many people I don't want to/need to talk to on my 'friend' list.

So, is this on by default? Or is it an application you need to agree to like the Pirates vs. Zombies crap?

On by default. I personally think it's brutal. I mean, do you seriously think all the people that would even consider using this wouldn't already be using MSN or some other far-superior chat client? Perhaps if Facebook came out with sort of desktop application then it might get adopted by the vast majority of it's users, but I think the luxury will soon die like all the other ######ed applications on Facebook.

Yeah...I noticed that pretty quickly. Can't...block...anybody...
I gotta do some friend list trimming and remove the people that I'm not actually friends with but think they're friends with me..

piece of crap doesn't even work for me... you type something in, then it disappears, and a box says "can not connect to facebook chat at this time" you reload the page, and it comes back again.

I do that all the time. If I haven't talked to someone for awhile, I just delete them. I get sick of seeing their updates.
And it's nothing personal, it's just that they're not my friends. I used to have people like my siblings' friends, people that I meet one night but never see again, relatives that I never see... I simply don't care that 'Jane is excited for the weekend' or that 'Joe is happy'.

You need better friends then. Almost all of my friends try and put something funny in their status; or at the very least interesting.

You're right. Maybe I should add you. You've been showing up in my suggested friends list every other day since that little box appeared.

I hear that, I just switched mine to Offline. Every time I log on, will I have to rush over to it to de-activate it before someone clicks on, or will it remain Offline since I set it to that?

I was thinking about purging my friends list (again) so I don't have to chat to anyone I don't like, but I can't. There are probably a good 20 people I have as friends whose lives are pure, unadulterated train-wrecks that I can't help but follow through their status updates and posts. They're good for a few laughs, and something to vent over when they post dumb egotistical crap I don't care about.
I also hate mind numbing status updates:
"xxxx is thinking about drinking a lemonade this weekend."
WHO THE **** CARES? Shut up!! Shut up!!!

That's one of the only reasons I have facebook. Some people and the drama in their lives are just too bloody interesting not to follow through facebook. Especially if they're gonna be stupid, and let the whole world know about their problems on there.....
That's something I always found ######ed... You wouldn't go around telling every dick about your personal business, so why would you on facebook?
