What's replacing the downtown Sears?

Hey folks,

I walked through Sears the other day, at Eaton's Center. Obviously, they are closing the store. I was suprised by this.

Does anyone know what is going in there? Are they replacing just sears, or is a whole new building scheduled to go there?

that's what I was thinking, I don't know a whole lot about Holt Renfrew, but they must have a ton of inventory if they are going to use all the floors.........

I think global TV had something on a couple weeks ago stating that they are taking over the sears location, ill try to dig up the article

It will likely include a massive multi millions dollar renovation that includes a lot of vaulted open spaces and spaced out merchandise.

The Holt in Van is like that, and I think it's 3 or 4 floors.

In most other cities the premier fashion lines each have their own mini-store within the larger store, and it is thought Holt here will do the same. So you will enter Hold Renfrew and then go into the Louis Vuitton mini-store or the Chanel mini-store, etc.

Holt is already set-up like that to a point BUT some of those premier lines have apparently threatened to revolk Holt's right to represent them if they did not improve the overall in-store experience.


Also notable is that Calgary's Holt is by far the hightest grossing Holt/sq-ft in Canada.
