I have been hesitating on posting this, but screw it. I won 4 tickets, 4 filghts and four 3 night hotel accomodations from a contest for Castrol Oil. I found out a few months ago. Needless to say, I will be using only Castrol Oil.
The story is kind of funny. My cousin was going to be doing the brakes on my car and he asked that I order the parts, so I ordered them from Part Source. They arrived and I was super busy and was going to ask if my cousin could pick them up, but decided since he was already saving me huge money on the labour, I would be a jackass to ask him to pick up the parts as well. So I head there and as I am in line I see an entry form and ballot box for a trip to the Super Bowl for the winner and three guests. I figured, "well someone has to win", grabbed a ballot and read it. It said you could enter online so I stuffed it (note 1 ballot) in my pocket. When I got home I put it in the counter with all of our flyers etc.
In the coming days my wife kept asking me if I was going to fill it out or could she throw it away. Finally after a couple weeks, she said she was going to throw it away if I didn't enter "right now". So I grabbed it, went on-line and filled out the ballot.
Each ballot had a unique code, so had I asked my cousin, he may have won.
My wife asked if I won, would I take her? I said no, she has never even given football a chance, despite my encouragement to do so. She perisisted saying that I should take her if I win, so I said, "fine, if I win i will take you" rolling my eyes and thinking there is no chance that I will win.
Fast forward a few months and I am driving for work on take your Grade 9 to work day and have my niece with me. I am taking her to Goderich as I was working on a ton of tornado claims and my phone rings. I didn't recognize the name that came up and debated not answering, but figuring it could be someone for work, possibly calling from their work I had better answer it.
When the lady on the other end told me that I had won, i almost went off the road. I didn't believe her at first but then when I said I only entered one ballot, she said I was one of the few that only entered once...and then I realized that the name on my phone was a company that handled contests etc.
So, now I am taking my wife to the Super Bowl, along with my aunt and uncle who always travel with us to hockey and football games (in the past my wife has come for the trip and even tailgating but has gone back t the hotel and had a bath or just enjoyd the time away from work and the kids). She has now made an effort to watch football and understands it better than I thought she would. She is also going to sit down and watch the playoffs.
Now, I need the Patriots to get there and I will be pumped! Go Pats!
