But didn't the Pacer and Gremlin emerge in the 70s?

I mean, you have to factor in the average consumer into any ugliness calculation. Those cars were clearly designed with the moderate LSD user in mind. Really, they're only a couple of tabs away from being beautiful. I mean, look at all the glass on that thing man. Whoa...

I remember teh Aztec. It's claim to fame was back end turning into a tent. Like you need some hunchbacked minivan to sleep in your car. God that thing is ugly.

One of my first cars was a '79 AMC Spirit. It was similar to the Eagle, but much less cool.
