Low Cal Bevvies?
So...the big UFC fight is coming up tonight and I plan to imbibe in a few drinks(or maybe more then a few) and given the workout-diet regiment I am on I really dont feel like ruining everything and taking in 1000 calories off drinks alone.
So now the question is..what drinks make for good low cal alternatives? And I mean like REALLY low cal, light beer doesnt work for me. I have read online that a screwdriver has only 64 calories and 3.5 grams of carbs, can anyone confirm this? If true this has to be the best option, but that being said I have never had one. Any ideas or info would be greatly appreciated.

One night of serious drinking isn't going to hurt your diet - workout regime. It's not as if your going to do this on a regular basis. Just enjoy the night and drink to your hearts content.

Yeah your probably right...but I do go out for a drink or three once or twice a week(have been avoiding for a while...but hockey is coming!) and would be happy to find something that doesnt make me feel like Fat Albert while I am consuming it.

Okay, I see your point. If you know you're going to be drinking on a certain night you could put in some extra time at the gym that day to compensate for the extra calories you'll be drinking.
Ohhh and this site should be of some help

Well if you can stomach it....I imagine anything with just straight liquor mixed with water would be about as low carb/calorie as you can get. My brothers wife likes Raspery Stolli's Vodka with water. Might be a bit girlie, but it doesn't taste any different than that flavored raspberry water that they sell. Avoid mix drinks like pop with a lot of sugar, even Orange Juice is pretty high in Carbs I suspect.

Just mix your drinks with diet soda and you'll avoid a lot of extra calories over the course of the evening.

Really? Only 60 cal? If true this is a great option!
Also I like your idea Syl, flavoured vodka and water has to be very low cal and probably wouldnt taste half bad either.

Vodka
Water
Crystal Light Powder
Works wonders and the only calories you would be getting is from the Vodka (60-70 cals/oz) and the Crystal Light (Less than 5 cals/serving).
Plus after only a few of those you get just ######ed! Have 10 of those and you are only at 750cals, if you only plan on doing this once a month, you will be allllllll good.
Just make sure your last 2 drinks are straight water else you will have a nasty hangover/dehydration problem the next day

I like that idea too Hoot. That will be a gooder for having the boys over and watching the Flames....but the problem for tonight is I am going to a bar and I dont think they would make that for me.

An oz of Bacardi is 65cals alone...a can of coke has over 100 cals....so I dont know about this one.
Unless you are doing a half shot of rum with a splash of coke

Sorry must have missed the bar part, just got in from the gym myself so I am a little out of it.
Speaking of that I had a buddy who did the old vodk/water and just slipped in the crystal light. The bouncers thought he was drugging drinks and kicked him out. Not so funny at the time but now its hilarious.
What exactly is in a screwdriver? Vodka/OJ isnt it?

Yep. But I have been looking around online and I think whichever bonehead gave me the idea that it was 65 cal must have been talking about a third of a regular drink because I am seeing alot of websites quoting 150-180 cal per 1.5 oz of vodka.

Yes, Yes he must be
Most hard liquor that is 80 proof (Rum/Vodka/Tequila(sp?)/Whiskey/Jager) is all about 65-75 cals per 1oz shot. Then you just have to add the mix.

And that seems to be what really adds the cal's to any decent drink. I think I am going to be relagated to water, diet soda or if at home the crystal light for my drink mixes. Doesnt leave me with a ton of options.
