Judge who sued drycleaners is appealing the verdict...Some people just don't learn...

Quote:
A U.S. judge on Tuesday asked an appeals court to hear his $54-million (U.S.) lawsuit against the dry-cleaning shop that misplaced his trousers, shrugging off legal setbacks and international ridicule.
Judge Roy Pearson filed a notice of appeal with the District of Columbia Superior Court, indicating that he won't abandon the crusade that has turned him into a symbol of America's lawsuit-happy culture.
At least his employers seem to be getting tired of his antics...

Quote:
The city has warned Judge Pearson it might not reappoint him when his job comes up for review next month, according to The Washington Post.

Not really surprising. He is clearly drunk with his power as a lawyer and insane with his ability to let something so trivial go.

I'm sure he'll be happy if he doesn't get reappointed because then he can tack that onto the lawsuit and he'll probably ask for triple what he's seeking now.

What is the reasoning behind 54 mil - why not 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 etc?

Judges are what judges are - at least its not as bad down there as it is up here where they hold the governemnt hostage everytime the contract comes up.

I don't think he has any choice. He has already cost himself his job, reputation, etc.

There is no real way to cut his losses, so he has no choice but to go for it.

I think a large chunk of it was the cost to rent a car to drive to a different drycleaners everyday for the rest of his life.

The city "might" not reappoint him? Sheesh ... the last thing the world needs is megalomaniac judges.

Some people never learn. If he thinks his reputation is bad, just wait till he looses this appeal.

The real sad part is the poor couple having to deal with this garbage all over again.
