Default Calgary's Smoking By-Law

About time. Even friggin' Edmonton is ahead of us on this one.

Calgary's Smoking By-Law Is About To Take Centre Stage
Jul, 10 2006 - 11:20 PM

CALGARY/AM770CHQR - Second hand smoke won't be in the air, but it will be on city council's agenda next Monday.
A motion will be introduced asking council to amend the city's current smoking by-law to make all public places smoke free by January 1st, 2007.

I have a feeling it'll be voted down, but I love that motion

It'll get shoved aside (again).

Even Quebec passed a province wide bylaw.

I agree, the Alderman of this City are to scared to pass this legislation. The funny thing is, the majority of people do not smoke.

Response;

Hello Zane,

As it was stated in the Calgary Herald article, Alderman King is a co signature of the Notice of Motion brought to Council to implement the smoking ban in Calgary in January 2007 instead of January 2008. She has been a full supporter of making Calgary smoke free sooner rather than later from the start of this process.

Thank you for writing to Alderman King regarding the smoking ban in Calgary. It helps her to know she has the support of so many constituents on this matter.

Sincerely,

Tanya Drewlo
Constituent Assistant
for Alderman M. King, Ward 8
The City of Calgary
Phone: (403)268-2431
