Welcome to the Grindhouse!!!
I am completely stoked and can't wait until this comes out on Friday. I found a link to four grindhouse related videos. 1 is a faux-trailer by Eli Roth (Warning: extremely gruesome) the second is a moment with Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, and the third and forth are the trailers.

Enjoy!!!

It's been frustrating to try and find a good review for this because almost everything out so far has been posted by the uber geeks, which as we all know are always biased, especially from the guys at Ain't It Cool News. The funny thing about both is that one favors "Planet Terror" while the other favors "Death Proof", and I'm sure that once the flick comes out it won't be any different with people picking their favorites. As for myself I'm just looking forward to the entire spectacle of it.

Oh right I started a thread about this a long time ago and I was going to bump it when the movie was close to coming out...I knew I would forget to do that. Ah well.
I plan to go see this on Friday. Should be great. Cheap fun and laughs with a side of gratuitous nudity. This is going to be one of those movies that you know going in that it's gonna be way over the top to the point of hilarity.

RottenTomatoes.com is always the first place to look. It collects all the reviews and gives the percentage of good reviews.
For GrindHouse, it is currently 92% "fresh" (good). That is a great score but it will change as more reviews come in.

This will defenitely be well beyond over the top. What made the grindhouse flicks so unique was that since they didn't have the budgets to hire big name stars, they had to make good use of their subject matter and other exploitative elements in order to get people into those seats. What's great about even the idea of QT's and RR's grindhouse is that they have the ability to hire big name stars and still have the exploitative elements.

I'm a HUGE fan of Tarantino, and want to see this rather badly. Unfortunately, I'll be OOT all weekend so it'll have to wait.

I think I am the only person on earth who hates Tarantino and thinks this movie looks like over-the-top garbage. Oh well, maybe they'll prove me wrong.

I saw an interview on break.com with Quentin Tarantino. Typical bla bla bla-ing, but he did say that Butch was the guy who keyed Vincent's Malibu, and I thought that was pretty cool.

So anyone else watch this? What a great experience. The fake trailers were hilarious. Both movies were fun rides especially the finale of Death Proof.

It was pretty good. After a few days of digesting it I'd have to say I liked Tarantino's half better. Planet Terror was just a little bit too ridiculous for me.

I agree. Although the movie had a lot of filler, it was still pretty good.
One of the previews called "Machete" I actually want to see made into a movie. Heres hoping for a Grindhouse 2.

I loved both, and the trailers were priceless. DONT DONT DONT! hahaha.
I'd say Planet Terror was slightly my favorite; Death proof was a bit slow and I know how much he loves to amp his dialogue and think its the coolest thing in the world, but it got a bit long and annoying. However the ending of Death Proof was incredibly enjoyable so it made up for it.
I wish they did more fake trailers, those were a blast.

I loved everything about Grindhouse, the missing reels, the bad editing, the trailers, the over the top violence, and Kurt Russell at the end just made this movie for me, so funny. I loved all three hours of it, gonna check it out again for sure.

First just let me get the fanboy glee out of the way by saying...oh my god, oh my god, oh my god.
That was some of the best fun I've had at the movies in a very long time. Neither flick disappoints and the entire package makes it hard to leave your seat until the final blow.
With Planet Terror, Rodriguez takes an approach resembling early John Carpenter flicks. Everything from the wry humor to the musical score. This is a very fun zombie story with some very cool characters and gore galore. The fast paced action with multiple storylines keeps this flowing so well that makes the only way to describe this flick as, simply fun.
Death Proof was in reality two flicks tied together by main baddie, Kurt Russel who did a wicked job as Stuntman Mike. In true Tarantino form there is a lot of dialogue that doesn't carry the story anywhere but is still fun to just listen to. What makes both of these stories so great is in the way that Tarantino builds up the tension that the action doesn't disappoint when it finally gets there, specially because the way the stunts were shot in a way that puts you in the middle of the action.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves the cheesy horror genre or at least has some form of appreciation for this type of material. I know that I can't wait to see this again.

I couldn't have said it better Sadora. Especially the fanboy glee part "omigod, omigod, omigod!!"
While I really liked Planet Terror, Death Proof is over the top fun. Kurt Russell is the freakin' man and is so awesome as Stuntman Mike. Also, Rosario Dawson is unbelievably hot.
Gore, boobs, zombies, car chases, hot girls, guns, and great dialog - does it get any better? Oh yeah, Rose Mcgowan with a machine gun for a leg - awesome.

Its too bad that this movie seems to be heading to bombsville, its a genre thats been forgotten, but anyone who grew up in the late 60's and early 70's can remember the pus directors like Corbin, or Ed Wood or many of the others who either made the true over the top grindhouse movies like "Cycle Sluts from Hell", or "Devil Woman in Prison" or the famous explotation movies.
The problem with this flix is its over three hours long, and in todays attention fan deficit society thats death to a move, both from getting people into the theatre and having enough run times to make the movie profitable.
Its a nice salute to the type of bad movies that I grew up with, and its more then likely that this movie will do better on DVD then in the threatre, which is too bad because you really need to see this movie in a run down threatre with sticky floors, popping speakers and a grimy screen.
