Default Holy Mangasm - Cheoptics360 is 3D Television

Quote:
Absolutely incredible. Cheoptics360 is a Vizoo’s product which can change our understanding of 3D for always. This is a documentation of the 5×5 meter Cheoptics360 in the Vizoo’s showroom. No special effects or compositing has been used editing this movie. This is the real thing.
Quote:
The best part of Cheoptic is you can see it from 360 degrees - and it can be film or computer animated content

Downloading the video as I type. Gotta say though, their corporate website is HORRIBLE. Damn flash garbage.

edit:
Just watched. Two things:
1) I want one.
2) I need new pants.

combine that with a multi-touch interface, like what you have in the iphone, then you could actually interact with said image.. almost like the real thing.

It reminds me of a scene from William Gibson's Neuromancer.

Wasn't there some dude, I think he may have been Calgarian or his business was in Calgary or something, claimed to have invented some kind of 3D TV and then it turned out it was all a big scam and then the dude ran back to his home country?

obviously that's awesome. Buy you know what is kind of a hidden gem behind this idea?
It changes your typical family room. Instead of having to put couches along the walls to and facing the tv you can make a circle of couches around it in the centre. When you're not watching it makes hanging out with your friends much more comfortable.
Random? Yes. But thought I would point it out.

That was the first thing that I thought of. The units in the video are ugly prototypes. Once you put some style into the design it could essentially fit into the coffee table and be visible only when you want it to be.

Back on topic. I love how they send out a 2D video to show how a 3D contraption is supost to work. There was a guy who I worked with at Blockbuster back in the day that would flip out everytime they played on the trailer tape (VHS) about how much better DVD was to VHS, even compairing the two. This is totally like that for me.

I'm sure it works the way they say to do... but it's like sending out an AM signal on the benifits of Stereo. Horrible.

So, if I were to lay on the floor while watching this tv, could I look up girls skirts?

That's something I was wondering about this. How will your average sitcom be filmed? Can you imagine watching the Flames game in this? To bad it wont be HD....

The entire ice surface would be shown with the players skating around on it. probably similar to sitting in the 200's. Keep in mind this is only the first model of this thing. The technology will improve and within 10 years I'm sure we'll see them in peoples houses. Hollywood is obsessed with the thought of 3D.

I'm curious... is there a surface stretched between the beams/ceiling of that thing? They need something to reflect the image off, and that's the only thing I can think of.
