Damn, by my calculations that show was on pace to turn into hardcore pornography by the middle of next season.

It had to happen. There was not much story left that they could do. There was only so many times that Seth/Summer and Ryan/Marissa could break up and get back together.
With Marissa dead, the show just does not seem the same. It was really good for the first couple of seasons though...

I started watching because Ben McKenzie is pretty delicious, but he couldn't keep me watching through the second season. The story line with the comic that Seth was trying to start was just pointless and boring. They really just burned out by using all the good story lines within the first season. Too bad really.

What?? It was cancelled? I didnt follow the show but a couple years ago I had a female roomate who watched it religiously, Id watch it with her sometimes. And I was under the impression it was as big as 90210 was in its height. Hasnt the O.C. only been on for three years? What the hell happened?!? Man it mustve went downhill fast, Ive never heard of a show being THAT popular to being axed in such a short period of time

Seasons 1 and 2 were great and I was an enormous fan. Season 3 even had me wondering where the show was headed and now in season 4 I can see why the show went from 10 to 4 million viewers. It definately was less exciting after season 2 ended. The show was awesome the first 2 years and now isn't that exciting. I'm still a fan but I wish they could have made better storylines in seasons 3 and 4.

It was basically the 90210/Melrose Place idea updated to this millenium. Those shows have a shelf life as they come out on fire, but than run out of outrageous ideas to keep peoples attention. Desparate Housewives by all accounts has, Grey's anatomy will suffer this same fate in about a year and a half from now if it already hasn't. Even shows like Lost and Prison Break had to take extended breaks to try and figure out how to keep peoples attention. Much more choice on T.V. these days and most shows are lucky to last 3 years before the fizzle out.

Like others have said, I only watched seasons 1 and 2. Watched parts of season 3, and just stopped after a while.
Bye OC.

I never watched, but I wonder what will replace it?
Hopefully not another American Idol clone.

Thats the best show I've seen since Friends, it never gets boring and honestly every Monday you're left dying to get to next Monday, cheesy but it's true, I've watched the DVD's three times in a row and I got them for X-mas.

I watched all of season 1 of prison break and really liked it, but after about 3 episodes of season 2 I found it really boring and just gave it up. Has it gotten any better since then?
I recently started watching Studio 60.. thats a pretty good show.
Not overly upset at the cancellation of the O.C... but the show did produce some nice eye candy.

This was the plan from the start of this season, so no big surprise that they are announcing it now.
I think that last season was pretty weak and the first two episodes this year sucked, but now the show is as good as ever.
Bill Simmons sports writer on ESPN made a good point when comparing this show to BH 90210. The first two seasons The OC blew through plot lines at an amazing clip. They had about four seasons of plot lines in the first season and a half but they spent such a short time on each that it really is no wonder they are done now. Obviously they could continue to pump out crap episodes for one or two more seasons but if they are running out of ideas better to kill it now.

Wow, sounds a lot like 24 (which starts in just SIX days!!!). Now there's a show that keeps you on the edge of your seat wanting more. It's like a cliffhanger a week. Hands down, the best TV show out there these days.
I may have to ponder this Prison Break show
