Official Boxing Day Thread
I know boxing day is pretty crap here in Canada nowadays, but there are some decent deals to be had. I have none to report yet though. I'm looking for a name brand 2GB (at least) MP3 player for awhile now (preferably a flash Creative), and this year it looks like those types of deals are to be had. So anyone can post their online deals or whatever.

What would you guys do if you were out east? All the stores (very close to all) are closed for Boxing Day out here...

i know it isn't as huge as the excited states but boxing day at bestbuy in edmonton was an experience i will remember forever.
lineups before it opened, and deals that were totally ridiculous. it's a place that really goes nuts boxing day, compared to other box stores anyway.
what a zoo!

There seems to be some ridiculous superstore electronics deals if you can get them. Sony video cameras for $150!
I got a photo printer for my mom that was posted on RFD for $99 that is $225 everywhere else. Good deals if you are quick enough/

Stupidstore.. I went there to try and get some of those deals, and remembered why I never go there. Didn't get any deals either

Should these deals be good online out in Alberta as well? I found an MP3 player that's $70 cheaper than it is right now. I'd rather sit on the computer than go line up with vultures. lol

Got a Creative Zen V 2 GB for $39.44 yesterday. Last one at NW Superstore Too bad OP missed out.
Apple still has refurbished iPods for sale. Free shipping and 1 year warranty and pretty good prices.

If anyone is interested in a really well built laptop, Lenovo is selling a few remaining Thinkpad T60 units. link
(you can find cheaper laptops but not better laptops for that price.)

Right after a holiday that has been modified to become the biggest shopping time of the year, merchants create ANOTHER huge shopping day. I don't get it.
Boxing day for me when I was younger was all about getting to play with my new stuff, seeing my friends after all the family time over the past few days (don't get me wrong, the familiy time was good but seeing your friends again and playing with them, either out in the snow or indoors with all the new loot was great too) and pigging out on Christmas treats and leftovers.
For me now it's all about the R&R after all the chaos. The Canucks game will be fun this year and probably go our for a little post Christmas cheer after the game with buddies.
Couldn't pay me to go out in that mess and I've even stood by that claim in the face of a couple angry girlfriends.
Deals aren't that great anyway, it's just a bunch of hype to get you to spend more money at a time when we've already spent too much as it is.
It's interesting to know that many retailers would not break even without the big holiday season. Goes to show you how important 'buying' has become.
Don't need another day dedicated to that in my opinion.

The Creative MP3 players have excellent sound quality, so that's the benchmark in my mind. Thanks for the heads up though!

Alright all you LCD experts out there I was thinking about getting up early and heading to Best Buy tomorrow to buy this 37" LG LCD HDTV. Seems like a pretty good deal to me. What do you folks think?

The refrigerator that my wife and I have been eyeing for months is advertised as $900 off on the futureshop website, but is out of stock as far as the online store goes. I guess we'll head out to the store first thing tomorrow morning and see if we can find any in stock. I've never been shopping on Boxing Day before but if we can find one of these in stock, it would really be worth it.

Actually it's an LG one that we're looking at. But yeah, we'll just dump the old one out in the middle of the back alley, surely one of the bottle-pickers will appreciate it! Maybe we'll even leave it full of Christmas leftovers.

I just bought the Sandisk Sansa 4GB MP3 player for $150 + tax. I'm usually against purchasing stuff I haven't tried or researched, but this was saving $70, and if I do some research in the meantime before it's delivered, and the research shows that it's crap, I'll just walk into Futureshop and return it. Seems like an alright deal though.
