Oil Prospects Camp II
Today the Oil concluded the second of three prospect camps. One day of conditioning and nutrition training, physicals, and a four-hour on ice demonstration to strut their stuff. Day two had the boy’s hit the ice early for another four-hour workout proceeded by a lunch and a three period prospects game.
Oil GM: Rink Rat “Today we seen a lot of talent out there, obviously Scotty (Upshall) showed us he really does not belong here. He had a great camp, along with other players such as Barker and Babchuk on D, and wow the speed of Mike Grabner really draws attention. Jessiman is a big boy and likes to throw it around; you could always use another power forward on the big team. And Bouchard sees the ice very well for a 18 year old. All in all the physicals went good, we like to make sure our future investments are up to date on keeping in top shape”.
“We like to bring the kids to the rink as often as we can, to insure they see the reward they are working for (state of the art training facility and no team bus anywhere in site). We will hold another prospect camp a little closer to September, just before the prospects embark to their destinations for the winter, many of them will suit for the roadrunners”.
“Next week we will bring in the team for a little preparation for the summer tournament. We have heard rumblings from the league that this tourney may take place, but no official word has been released at this time. So we figure we will bring them in and get in a little summer conditioning.
Oil 2006 first round pick Michael Grabner factored in on all three Oil White goals today, netting two himself and setting up Cam Barker for the first Oil White goal late in the first, had this to say after the event broke for the day. “ Well that was a hell of way to spend the long week end. What a facility to train in, sure is a little different than the one we had in Spokane. It was good to meet up with Barker, Korpikoski, Salmonsson Bouchard and Carle, the boys I will be starting with down in Greenville. But I will be back here before you know it” said the speedy winger.
