Default Amber Alert for Sask. boy

http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2...711353-cp.html

Why do we let people like this guy live? Look at his priors. Just kill him and be done with it.

I assume you are talking about the guy suspected of taking him, and not the little boy.

I sure hope the boy is OK.

Good lord that is truly terrifying…can you imagine what it would be think to be the parents of that kid? How can this guy be out on the street after so many repeat offenses? Just makes me sick…people like that should be considered at the same level of a serial killer, even if he doesn’t kill these kids the emotion and mental damage is almost impossible to overcome

My station has a guy in Whitewood right now and apparently the whole place is just sick to their stomachs (as they should be).

This is a guy who was in jail, then literally the day after he was released they found him in a hotel room with a 13 year old boy.

He got 1 year in prison for that....Ridiculous IMO. There has to be some way of helping a person that sick.

All the same I'm hoping for the boy's safe return, gotta be a damn scary time for him and his family.

9 days after this guys release, he kidnapped an 8 year old girl. He got 56 MONTHS for that!! Our justice system is ****ed. I'm pretty neutral abotu the death penalty. But anyone who touches a kid with the intent of committing a sexual crime should be taken out to the old brick wall and shot through the back of the head.

This punishment sounds good for the guy.

Yup, it is ****ed. Not that I can understand it, but he was released the first time, and the re-offended. Isn't that a sign that he should be a high risk for re-offense? Give me a ****ing break. I realize we can't protect children from people who don't have a prior record, but this could have been completely prevented.

Watching the Regina news tonight Supposibly he could have another boy with him, picked up last week, a 14 year old aboriginal from Manatoba. The 14 year old's step father and Whitmore were working in Winnapeg at a construction site and on the way back to Brandon Whitmore's car broke down and asked the Step father to go back to Winnapeg to get money. And then he took off with the kid. Police in Manatoba didn't issue an alert because the kid was left in Whitmore 's care they only issued a "Missing Persons".

Not too sure if anny one knows how. They showed a clip whip people being interviewed from the town the kid was friendly and talked to everyone. Typical smalltown kid. What they did know is that Whitmore's van had a flat the kid's dad works at the local tire shop and brought the kid to the shop afterhours to fix Whitmore's tire. Guess that is how the kid knew the guy. The next day the kid left the yard saying he was going to be back in a few hours and he never came back.

If any one has a dish check out Regina's news, CTV probably the best, when it comes on tonight.

This is the perfect example of why California has the third-strike rule.

http://www.justicepolicy.org/article.php?id=451

Three strikes is too many in the case of a felony charge like kidnapping and sexual crimes.

I agree with third-strike for molesters but in California I've heard of shoplifters getting life under this law.

I say what's the point in killing pedophiles? Why not castration? That's best way to deal with rapers and child molesters IMO.

Edit: Look, let me further clarify my position. I agree, the 3 strikes Laws do not need to be nearly as extensive as the one in California. It seems excessive to sentence someone to life for say stealing a slice of pizza (which I believe actually happened). However, my simple rule stands, don't steal, don't go to jail for life.

Try thinking about it, I'm not here to answer every dumb question. It's not putting people in jail for life for shoplifting. Half the population would be in jail. Do you want to pay for that? Not that I'm condoning shoplifting.

But that's the law. It's like people complaining about the death penalty. Don't commit a capital crime, and you will live. It's really about following simple rules.

Well if that were true, then California would have the highest incarceration rate in the USA. It doesn't, things like being put in prison for life for shoplifting are rare exceptions rather than the rule.

The top five prisoner per population rates are Louisiana, Mississipi, Texas, Oklahoma, and Alabama. All of which have over 635 prisoners per 100 000 people.

California has 206 prisoners per 100 000 people. So, you're way off.
