Default Shinny Hockey In Lethbridge

Anybody in Lethbridge looking to play some ice hockey, but not wanting to get too serious me an a group of guys play weekly shinny hockey. We're looking for approximately two more skaters and possibly another goalie. We play every thursday night, 4 on 4 and we just play to have fun. Not much defense is played, so you may get a lot of chances to score a lot of goals.

StoneCole came out and played with us during the 2nd half of last season, but the crazy feller is leaving Lethbridge before hockey season starts up. We'll play from October to April. We may even start in September too.

So if you're interested on playing, give me a pm. You don't have to commit to playing every week if you don't want to, we'll accept full timers or part timesr.

I would be interested but I too am moving at the end of August, every time I feel a strong wind I will always think of Lethy. Sounds like a fun time.

Its a blast. We just go out and screw around. It kinda does get a bit fast paced but we're just having some fun.

I should also note that you don't have to be good. There are a couple guys that play who are pretty weak skaters... and I'm not all that spectacular on my skates either.

Shinny with Buff is a good time. Real good group of guys and they will take you in no questions asked. If you ask nice they may even have you out for steak sandwiches on Tuesday.

I just wanted to say that I highly recommend this for anyone in the Bridge looking for a good game of shinny.

At the least you need a helmet. However everybody wears next to full gear (most don't wear shoulder pads).

This started off about 4 years ago, everybody had skates, a helmet, gloves and of course a stick. The next year a couple guys started to wear shin pads and cups. During the 3rd year a few people ditched the track pants covering their shin guards and went with full gear. At the beginning of the 4th year everybody wore full gear (only a handful wear shoulder pads).

As we got more comfortable with each other we started picking up the pace and being a little less carefull with our shots. We wear pads to protect ourselves from the puck. There is no contact aside from the odd accidents.

One guy left us, but made some long weekends and played with us a couple of times and he never wore any gear other than what we all started off with. So a person could come in and play with the minimum, but you may find you'll want to get some gear.
