what kind of country club boy scouts were you in?
the hike isn't all that challenging though, but it does take a while. When we went last time, which was a number of years ago, we took 4 days. A 4 day trip was at a very leisurely pace and was very manageable for the inexperienced hikers in the group. It is a beautiful spot though. Just buy a map and plan some sort of reasonable trip, no sense in going if you have to rush.
