CALGARY - A partnership between The City of Calgary and
Recycle-Logic Inc. will provide a new “drive-thru” option to
Calgary’s year-round electronics drop-off locations.
“This complements a successful collaboration with ECycle
Solutions enabling residents to safely dispose of old and
unusable (end-of-life) televisions, desktop computers,
monitors, printers, laptops, notebooks and accessories, seven
days a week at six electronics recycling depots Calgary,”
announced Dave Griffiths, Director, Waste & Recycling
Services.
“Electronics contain chemicals and heavy metals that are
potentially harmful to the environment. An average computer,
for example, contains as much as 4 pounds of lead with a
circuit board of over 16 hazardous heavy metals. Personal
computers and monitors are the two most common types of e
-waste which contribute to approximately 40% of the
electronics waste stream.
“The City of Calgary is committed to fostering this program
as electronics contain recyclable parts.
“Supporting electronics recycling is valuable in the short
-term and necessary in the long-term to meet the City’s
commitment to economic, environmental and social growth and
well-being,” said Griffiths.
The following locations accept end-of-life televisions,
desktop computers, monitors, printers, laptops, notebooks and
accessories free of charge. Visit

Waste & Recycling Services
The City of Calgary’s Waste & Recycling Services provides
city residents with waste collection and treatment including
recycling programs for electronics, compost creation and
household chemicals. The introduction of curbside recycling
will drive the goal to recycle 80% of materials by 2020.
