PREDS SEASON REVIEW
Before: The Preds were a contending team with many aging stars in Fedorov, Lemieux, Sydor, Naslund, Modry, Bondra, Sanderson. Although the main threats Fedorov, Lemieux, Bondra were all on the IR and Naslund's was playing well below-average.
Then: Right after being the named the new GM, Joe Schum, took a week off with a pick eye. "it was a horrendous experience." GM Schum wanted to get much younger and the trade talks were in full effect after he got back. On Boxing day he made his first bi move by trading Fedorov to arch-rival Wild. The trades continued.
After: The trading frenzy continued for the Preds. Almost all players from the previous regime were gone the exception being Dan Hinote. Almost all of minor league team has new faces as well. Some of the new faces brought in were traded as well.
Summary: In all the Preds got younger and won the division crown on the last day of the regular season. The over-confident Preds suffered a first-round defeat to the Red Wings in six games. GM Schum believes if Chara had been healthy, they would've won the series.
