Have you ever been to Fatburger in the States? It's good food, and the drive to the nearest Fatburger is a lot shorter now than it used to be.
They have better quality food than your average burger joint, but their prices are higher too. Also, it isn't "fast" food. The wait can be pretty long for just a burger and fries.
If your name is accurate and you live in the NE, I wouldn't drive across the city just to go there, but if you happen to be shopping for cheap Swedish furniture, it's worth the visit.
Of the two big California burger chains, I would have preferred to have an In-N-Out open up, but Fatburger is good too.

Fat Burger is very over priced and very average food. $10 for a cheeseburger combo that pales in comparison to Harveys. I was very disappointed. Thai Tai (which is right beside it) on the other hand is amazing. I had been to the one on 17th lots and this one is just as good. Try the Ultimate Sub. Satay Beef and Chicken with Chillis, Cilantro, Carrots, lettuce, peanut sauce etc, etc. A real treat for the taste buds.

My wife and I tried Fatburger last week. The burgers were good (not phenomenal) but the fries were crappy run of the mill McCain's style. The food is definitely not worth the price they charge especially for how long it took to get after we sat down.

Haven't tried Fat Burger yet, but as far as Thai Tai goes, they are probably one of the worst Vietnamese sub places in the city. The best by far is Thi Thi, with 2 locations downtown. Try it, you won't ever want to go back to Thai Tai again.

Is it me, or does every over hyped burger out there pale in comparison to what the average schmoe can do with some lean ground beef, a big of liptons onions soup, breadcrumbs, and onions? I've yet to have a burger better than what I can make on my own.

I like Moxie's extreme burger, but IHH is right. Most of the time you can make your own burger and it'll be better than most other burgers that you can buy. The only reason I'd choose buying a burger over bbq'ing my own is that I don't have to make it. Most of the time I'd rather not make it, but if I'm already home I'm not going to bother to go out either.

I like some of the burgers from M&M.
I haven't tried making my own in years, perhaps I should find a recipe...

Funny, I've tried both Vietnamese sub places downtown a few times and prefer Thai Tai on 17th. I'll go out of my way to get one of their subs, damn good.

I had myself some Fatburger last week.
Overall better than you average fastfood burger fare. Nice and sloppy, good fries and very good service. However, its not worth what they are charging. 10 bucks for my combo basically. Too much for a fast food burger no matter how good it is.

Yes, every commercial burger does pale in comparison to what you can make at home.
Two days after we went to Fatburger I made burgers using:
6 lbs lean ground beef
2 lbs lean ground pork
4 tbsp black pepper
8 tbsp granulated garlic
4 tbsp ground sage
2 tbsp seasoning salt
4 tbsp roasted garlic & red pepper seasoning mix
1/2 cup ketchup
I barbequed some of those bad boys and served them up on multigrain rolls. Those burgers would kick Fatburger's ass every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I'm sure they were great, but 8 flippin lbs of meat!? Did an army stop by your back yard and need feeding? Holy smokes!
I'm going to try that recipe, though...sounds pretty good.

I suspect Reaper froze a few. That's one thing I love about making burgers, the freeze nicely and can be defrosted - voila, dinner!
Either that or Reaper weights 400 lbs
Jeeze Reaper you're quite the goor-may chef on these parts, I'm going to have to try that recepie, not unlike your jerky one!

We make our own patties as well. It's a rare event that I actually enjoy a burger from a restaraunt more than the ones I can BBQ at home. That being said, I do wish there was an In-N-Out up here.

I went to Fatburger last Friday during lunch, which was a huge mistake. The wait to receive my order was almost 45 min. Overall, I thought for the price ($10 for a cheeseburger combo) and the wait it was average. It certainly didn't "wow" me and I thought the burger was quite small. Like others have said the fries weren't anything special. I doubt I'd ever go back there unless I can get what I pay for.
As for Vietnamese subs, I agree with oly74, Thai Tai isn't very good. Kim Anh on 17th pretty much right across from Thai Tai is far superior. Also, there's a place right by Jay's supermarket in the SE that is awesome, as well as the one he mentioned. But I guess everyone has different tastes and what they like.
