If I lived in one of those houses and people not moving was becoming an issue I would phone the city and try to press charges of tresspassing to everyone of those *******s and if the city wouldn't step in (which would likely be the case) I'd go out there and physically move people off of my property, one of my biggest pet peeves is people who wreck others property.

That was my thought. I'd set up a sprinkler system that reaches right to the edge of my property line, and if people started congretating on my property, turn it on.

Although I do have sympathy for people affected by this, it is something to consider when buying a house. Saying "oh, isn't that handy" when you see the bus stop right in front of your house; keep in mind there's always pitfalls.

my old neighbor had a fence that he has to repair weekly as a result of this .....he eventually decided that in order to control the problem he would just drive nails through the fence from his side with the sharp end sticking out. I thought he meant regular nails until I saw they were 9" long. He ground the ends with a grinder until they were even sharper. Psycho or what?? It worked like a charm though.

You know what really grinds my gears? I hate, hate hate when people vandalize and destroy bus shelters. I have noticed that the city has been replacing all the old brown ones with new modern, steel and glass looking ones. They are very nice actually. I notice by my school (Mount Royal), that there is constantly broken panes of glass and graffiti. This is disgusting. The city puts up a nice service by providing shelter (and nice, expensive shelters at that) for transit riders, yet some worthless piece of trash comes by and destroyes it for what reason.....to be cool? You wanna know what's cool? having their hands cut off if their caught doing that. That would be cool. Anyone who does this is a joke to society.......I feel I could go on but Ill calm down...

Sounds like a great way to get sued. Pretty sure you would lose that one....
As a kid who rode the yellow cheesewagon and the big blue limo to school all throughout Grade 1-12 (and univ too) I can tell you we had many a game of "track tag" running all over the adjacent lawns in my elementary years. Probably a few pieces of litter strewn about too. Now that the tables are turned on me I'm a little more understanding. You can stand under my eaves to stay out of the rain but sitting on my porch is unreasonable to me. I'm OK with people standing there not doing any sort of damage, but as I've learned, you're always dealing with the lowest common denominator....

At my bus stop, there's a junior high school across the street, and then a house with the drive way also.
During one year, all the smokers would hang out in the bus shelter, and the whole lawn was littered with cigarette buts, it was just disgusting.

My place in Calgary had a back alley that was one street away from a high school. Kids would also come at lunch smoke in the alley, hang out on the backs of cars, sit on bumpers etc.. a few good yelling and random threats of death sounding like an old man did the trick.

Heh heh... Reminds me of hte summer of... uh, 98 or 99 when me and two buddies went to okanagan for canada day. there were 2 rules (can't find the colon button on this goddamn keyboard) rule 1 was that we had to be in okanagan for Canada Day. Rule 2 was that we could not spend any money on overnight accomidations.
So, one night in Penticton, I took my sleeping bag to the grass by the beach to sleep. Was very nice until 4 am when the fawkin sprinklers turned on.
I grabbed my gear and headed across the street toward the car. Along the way, I spotted a very comfortable looking patch of grass...
When I poked my head out of hte sleeping bag, I discovered that I was not only on someone's front lawn, but there was a bus stop right there too. Yes, I was sleeping in a sleeping bag, on a lawn, less than 10 feet from a busy bus stop in Penticton, the day before Canada Day...
I'm sure my parents would be proud to hear that story.

I lived in a house with an elementary school bus stop in front, and the littering used to drive me nuts. So for parents reading this, teach those little creeps how to use a garbage can.
On the bright side though, one time 2 kids got into a scrap and one kid kicked the other kid's lunch bag and it busted open. Later on I went and collected the spoils of war. Free juice box and fruit roll-up for me!!

Yeah that drives me nuts too. Those things must cost a fortune to replace and what the hell is the point of breaking it? Who or what are you rebelling against when you break a bus shelter?
Another thing that annoys me at bus shelters is "responsible adults" tossing their bags of dogshyte into the garbage cans at a bus shelter. Hey genius, people stand there and they don't need to stand next to your dog's smelly toilet, so have a little bit of common courtesy and take your bag of faeces all the way home with you please or barring that, dispose of it in a place that is not clearly marked as a gathering point for humans.

Kind of off topic, but does anyone know why people keep destroying the ads in the mens washroom at U of C? They are always replaced. Things like "No ads" and "some call it vandalism, we call it mental environment liberation" are written on the frames. These guys are idiots... how does destroying a cell phone ad "liberate" my mind?

You've got me on those ones. Never really understood the concept behind destroying ads. Although the person that slapped the "Stop Sexist Advertising" on the Take it Home to Mom* Greyhound ad in the Science/Mac Hall link made be laugh quietly under my breath.

In a way it could also be ironic. By the school not getting as much ad revenue, they have to raise tuition, and that increase might be enough to cause a couple of students to have to drop out.
Some people are hell bend about rebelling against "the corperate machine." That is until they realize that stuff we get is subsidized by the corperations. Classic example; I've now been going to Sait for a few weeks; I've seen many Coke machines and not a single Pepsi machine.

Yep, SAIT is a Coke school. They sold exclusive rights to sale and distribution on campus a few years ago.
