Default Who should we trade next to make room for the younger players?

Ok I see this question in a bunch of threads.
Let’s say some of our youngsters really start to pop. We have too many mid players to fit them in. So who would need to go?

Andersson is the obvious one. Who is next for forwards, I would say Coleman. And after that maybe Farabee should be on a thin leash if he starts badly?

Will any rookies earn a forward job,

Obviously only time will tell,

My guess, Flames won't need to make a move at the forward position,

As long as the young player pushes the vet out. No point to move until then, IMO.

Should the young players force deals. Andersson and Coleman are the obvious choices. After that, it's tough. It's too bad Sharongovich re-signed when he did, or we'd have a slot right there. His current contract makes him a mini Huberdeau though -- we have to try and live with it and hope it works in the middle six.

Your options after that are Frost and Farabee. But they are the young players we want to pop.

If a young guy earns a spot, I hope we package 2 players for a better one and the young guy gets the open spot. Worked in NHL 2010.

Run anyone on the team over the age of 26 out of town with torches and pitchforks!

Even if that actually happened...we would still have posters lamenting that the team is too old and not bringing in enough young players.

With respect to forwards and looking at PuckPedia, the next people to trade are:

* Coleman - UFA 2027-28 - one year after this year.
* Frost - UFA 2027-28 - one year after this year.
* Lomberg - UFA 2026-27 - UFA after this season.

The rest on the roster are probably not worth anything in a trade.

Zary, Coronato and Wolf. They'll give us a butt load of picks and prospects. Then the veterans will all request trades and we'll get even more picks and prospects! Done.

Frost just signed this Summer; don't see him being a trade option this year.

Andersson is out this year and depending on how the team goes I think Coleman could be next.

I am not sure if Sharangovich, Frost, or Farabee finish their respective deals in Calgary. These guys will start getting pushed by Gridin, Honzek, Recsney Potter in the next 1-3 years.

If things go McKenna bad this year does Kadri decide to move on? If this team competes I think he stays.

Yeah. I think the hope is that Frost takes a big step this year. One that warrants a long term extension next offseason.

Coleman is the only expendable forward I see right now if Honzek is ready. Frost still has more to give offensively imo and he is your future Backlund replacement. You keep that guy. Farabee would be selling really cheap and he is a guy who can get you 20 goals while being responsible 200 feet. Sharangovich has too good of a shot not to bounce back imo after an injury addled him all year.

I'd move Farabee, although I'm sure it's too early for that and that's totally not the plan. I hope he turns it around; $5M for a third liner seems like a logical spot to go to someone else... and there's lots of prospects that are now knocking on the door.

If I was making a list

1. Sharongovich if he doesn’t turn back in to 2023/24 version
2. Farabee if he doesn’t improve over last years showing of 6pts in 31 games
3. Coleman if we’re out of the playoffs at the deadline

I think everyone else will fill a role well.

I would. I think Kadri, Backlund, Frost are the top 3 Cs barring injury.
