Pretty good signing for a 28 yr old, 30 pt, bottom six centre with intangibles.
He should be able to live up to that salary at least 2/4 years.

Pretty good deal for both sides imo. Not a bad cap hit, good term for the player

Good signing.

I don't know if his goals and points total last season will be an anomaly, but he is the kind of leader and workhorse that every team can use. Wrong place and wrong time, but in a different scenario, I would have been pining for him on the Flames.

Also, regarding his goals last season, some of them actually looked really nice.

He was a bottom six work horse. 15-20 goals while being an effective PKer, big body and effective at all three forward roles.

Glad they get him done. He was a bigger priority than Zadorov imo and I didn't expect them to get him re-signed.

Regrettably, a good signing. That Canucks third line with Joshua, Blueger and Garland was pretty effective at times last season.

Good signing. Probably would have gotten a bit more on the open market for sure. Canucks did well here.

Now please overpay for both Myers and Zadorov!!

Canucks have made a couple of solid depth re-signings in Joshua and Blueger

I'm sure they were hoping to keep it under 3, but this is probably the right term as it takes him through his age 31 season. If he is what he was last year - a high-end third line winger who eats PK minutes - this is a good price to pay for that.

Just did some Armchair GMing on Capfriendly. As of right now, and assuming that Arshdeep Bains, Linus Karlsson and Jonathan Lekkerimaki are on the team, the Canucks would need to add a backup goalie and a 2nd pairing RD to field a full 23-man NHL roster.

Assume that the backup goalie is Arturs Silovs, and that he comes in at 1.5M AAV. Assume the 2nd pairing RD is Tyler Myers and that he comes in at 3.7M.

That would leave the Canucks with exactly $10 million in cap space to upgrade from there.

Seems quite a lot / long for a guy with not much track record.

Joshua was really good this year and earned himself this raise. But I definitely get a Bouma vibe here

I don't know about this one.

I mean, his last name is a first name, and his first name is a state. Such people are not to be trusted.

I know all about this after what I went through with my cousin, Connecticut Kevin.

Sure was. And then time moved on and my opinion on how things were going to go changed as I had time to think and got additional information

I thought he was going to get somewhere close to 4 so a 500k discount sounds about right to me.

But that would have been an overpay, to be fair - I just thought an overpay was likely to happen.

No tampering occured, everyone swears it. Buuuuut Detroit apparently had 4x4 ready to go for July 1st and it was not a secret to the player.
