Back to the blender: New Flames forward lines ahead of Habs matchup

Elias Lindholm had a decent start to the season, but has recently dropped off, drawing criticism from fans and media. Part of his lacking production could be due to his consistent pairing with struggling winger Jonathan Huberdeau.

However, it looks like there’s an effort being made to not only get Huberdeau clicking, but to get more out of Lindholm as well.

I don't know what to expect. Last year, I got angry at Darryl sending out the same lines and not shortening the bench. This year, I am starting to hate the blender lines of Huska. No wonder there is almost zero chemistry and consistency.

Going into this game 29 year old Monahan would be the Flames #1C with a cap hit of 2M on a one year deal and 33 year old Kadri has 6 more years at 7M

The draft pick the Habs get could 2024 if the Flames finish in the top 12 of the league. (not very likely)

BUT if Calgary does not have the first OA pick in 2025 the Habs get their pick .... Tank in 2024 NOT in 2025

You're leaving the Florida pick out of it.

If I understand all the permutations correctly ... Florida doing well this year means Montreal will likely get Florida's 2024 1st round pick, meaning Calgary will get Florida's 2025 first round pick, and given where the Flames are headed that pick will go to Montreal.

Flames won't lose their own in either year.
