Back to the blender: New Flames forward lines ahead of Habs matchup

Elias Lindholm had a decent start to the season, but has recently dropped off, drawing criticism from fans and media. Part of his lacking production could be due to his consistent pairing with struggling winger Jonathan Huberdeau.

However, it looks like there’s an effort being made to not only get Huberdeau clicking, but to get more out of Lindholm as well.

Catch up on what was said following Monday practice in Montreal

On playing the Canadiens:

"It’s a really important ‘W’ (to get). We had some solid performances that kind of just slipped away from us; being able to come out here, this last game of the road trip, get a win and then go back home to our fans is going to be important. We know what we need to do to be successful, we’ve seen that time and time again this last segment of games; to be able to do that in 60 minutes is going to be important."

Some guarantees for tonight:

- Monahan scores
- If it goes to OT, Caufield wins it

Ah, Montreal - city of fine cuisine and cafe culture. We know that CP goes nuts for donuts, and a certain puppet just goes nuts period. Who's the victim tonight?

Spoiler!

I will donate $50 to CP if Huberdeau scores 2 goals.

Huska just throw names in a hat for his lineup

It’s early but almost time for tank or no tank

It's American Thanksgiving in 9 days.

We have 3 games between now and then. If we win all of them we're 1 game below .500.

We're not making the playoffs. Bring on the tank.

I don't know what to expect. Last year, I got angry at Darryl sending out the same lines and not shortening the bench. This year, I am starting to hate the blender lines of Huska. No wonder there is almost zero chemistry and consistency.

In any case, Go Flames. You can do this.

better be right after the game.
We can make a nice haggis.

Not a great offer if all you mean is you're signing a donor card.

On Aug 22,2022 the Flames gave Montreal Monahan and a 1st round pick (2024 or 2025)

That gave them 6.25 M cap room that they used on Aug 18 to sign Kadri to a 7 x 7 deal.

Going into this game 29 year old Monahan would be the Flames #1C with a cap hit of 2M on a one year deal and 33 year old Kadri has 6 more years at 7M

The draft pick the Habs get could 2024 if the Flames finish in the top 12 of the league. (not very likely)

BUT if Calgary does not have the first OA pick in 2025 the Habs get their pick .... Tank in 2024 NOT in 2025

You're leaving the Florida pick out of it.

If I understand all the permutations correctly ... Florida doing well this year means Montreal will likely get Florida's 2024 1st round pick, meaning Calgary will get Florida's 2025 first round pick, and given where the Flames are headed that pick will go to Montreal.

Flames won't lose their own in either year.
