Don't know much about the player but reading he could be replacement for Duclair.

Wanted him as UFA last yr (especially instead Rooney) - Avs got him on a 1 yr bargain deal. Got himself a nice deal this offseason - well played, Rodrigues.

So much money for crappy players.

FA day is like Christmas for mediocre plugs.

Evan Rodrigues is not a crappy player. He's a very effective support player and is being paid accordingly.

I would say Rodrigues is absolutely a more complete player. I like what Florida has done so far this off-season. Their depth got exposed in the playoffs when Barkov fell off and Tkachuk broke.

Meh he isn't any good, no interest in him being here, but 3m is probably now the going rate for his kind of player.

Hahaha what. Buddy just posted his underlying stats and they look solid.

He was rock solid for Pittsburgh a few years ago, great on a bad Buffalo team, and really helped Colorado with injuries to their superstars.

If the Flames made this deal I actually wouldn't be upset. He's like Backlund lite.

Oh are his "underlying stats" solid???

Well in that case give him 10m a season. LOL

So, he's good defensively. He's good in transition.

He produced 39 points in 63 games last season (.62PPG), and 43 points in 82 games (0.52PPG) the season before.

The way you seem to be judging players is detached from reality.

Besides just another negative post from you, this is wrong.

Rodrigues is a solid player, great skater, can play anywhere in the lineup, and was even playing on PP1 for the Avs last season. Most 'plugs' don't see top power play time on one the best teams in the league.

Solid player, solid contract for Florida. I'd be very happy if the Flames could've signed him to that deal.

I doubt he can replicate what he did last year or the one before, but he's versatile and when used as a 2nd or ideally third line guy can be good in that role. The dollar value here is okay as in two years we will be looking at an average salary of near 4 million per player. Term is maybe a year long for a guy who's 30 when the season starts.

Good deal for a guy that can move up and down the lineup.

I like the player and contract, but I just cannot stand the way he spells Rodrigues. It should be a Z at the end! It's gonna drive me bonkers.

Lots of these weird long term low dollar deals that you'd rarely see in the past. I wonder if teams are thinking they want to lock in guys at these dollars in the flat cap environment before the cap goes way up next year.
