That makes me happy. I don't know if he's any good, but the Flames need help with scouts at the pro level. Hopefully he brings in new ideas.
Does anyone know anything about the guy?

The Hockey News wrote a piece a few years back about the scouting departments of each team, and both the Flames and Oilers were top-5 for biggest scouting staffs. I think I recall the Flames being 3rd.

That's a bit surprising to hear our scouting group being bigger. Haven't been too impressed with the pro scouting up until now so hopefully this move can help out.

On the website, they have 11 amateur scouts and Steve Pleau is the only pro scout listed.

If you look at every team’s staff list, the Flames actually have the fewest designated pro scouts in the league.

I would agree that pro scouting has not been a strength of the organization but the GM ultimately makes the trade calls or UFA signings. You just have to look at the Ryan Reaves signing to know that Treliving's going to get the guys he wants and I have a feeling that was the case in Calgary a lot of the time.

Huffman now listed on the Flames website as pro scout.
Former Flame Brad Richardson is also listed as a pro scout.
Pleau is now Head Pro Scout.
