Flames Cross One Impossible Task Off List With Win In Vegas, Playoffs Next?

Darryl Sutter doesn’t care what you think. The Calgary Flames head coach will do as he pleases, even if it means contradicting himself.

He can say he’ll play Nick Ritchie in the top six or not at all, then throw him out on the bottom of the lineup. He can scratch Jakob Pelletier and Walker Duehr, two of their most energetic young players, and say later he was looking for some energy.

He can play his underperforming big-money players minimally while trying to get them going.

Stars looking to end road trip on a high note against Flames

A two-game losing streak is not the end of the world for the Dallas Stars at this juncture.

Even so, the Stars are well aware of the need to snap their skid as they finish a six-game road trip with Saturday's clash with the Calgary Flames.

The Central Division-leading Stars (37-19-13, 87 points) sit one point ahead of the Minnesota Wild and three up on the Colorado Avalanche heading into Saturday's action. Minnesota has one game in hand and the defending Stanley Cup champion Avalanche have two games in hand.

Winnipeg / Nashville game will be long over by the time they hit the ice. Hope for a two point game and then focus on the Flames.

Jets are on a 93.8 point pace right now, 92.5 with no points tonight
Predators are on a 93.1 pace right now, 91.8 with no points tonight

Flames with a win tonight go from a 90.3 pace to 91.4 with a win tonight.

Found the first phrase of Seravalli’s write up on Mackey interesting, “Sutter booted Mackey to Arizona…” He’s saying Sutter made the decision.

(For the record, I view Seravalli as an insider with a lot of inside information, hence his ability to correctly predict every pick in the expansion draft hours in advance, for example.)

Regardless of the OOT scoreboard results, win and you gain pts on 2 teams you are chasing. Big one tonight.

Every game is huge from here on out. Flames usually play well against Dallas. Time for the Flames to take advantage of home ice down the stretch.

Checks last home game.

5-1 win.

Your point is still valid. They were brutal at home, very listless performances before the Ottawa game last Sunday.

Seravalli seems to hate Sutter based on the tone of his radio spots.

Now that could be a valid view with a lot of information, or it could be a guy jumping to assumptions against the man on a regular basis.

Most saw the Mackey move as helping the kid out after it wasn't working in Calgary. Seravalli goes with "booted"

Seems like a pretty healthy bias to me.

Gilbert allowed the Flames to boot Mackey. He wasn’t going anywhere with the Flames. Same story as Valimaki.

I like those lines. I hope they actually happen. I know a lot of people say Lucic is useless. But I focused on him a bit the last couple of games and he’s been struggling. Duehr adds more at this point.

Wonder if Pelletier works his way back in at some point.
