Meanwhile, the Flames are on the hot seat. A club expected to be a Stanley Cup contender despite an offseason of turmoil has been a disappointment. The Flames have dropped two straight games in regulation, the latest a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday.
"We've played 46 games now and we're still looking for a really good game," center Elias Lindholm said. "It's concerning."
The Flames have been middling, at best, both offensively and defensively all season, but that is not the biggest concern right now.

Furthermore, Tampa Bay is piling on the goals. They have collected four or more goals in five out of their last six games. This is not ideal for a Flames squad that had squandered 11 goals in their last three games.

BOTTOM LINE: The Calgary Flames take on the Tampa Bay Lightning in a non-conference matchup.
Calgary has a 21-16-9 record overall and a 12-8-2 record in home games. The Flames have committed 191 total penalties (4.2 per game) to rank seventh in the league.
Tampa Bay is 29-13-1 overall and 12-10-0 on the road. The Lightning serve 10.4 penalty minutes per game to rank ninth in NHL play.

Ugh, why is it always against top teams when these rare matinees happen. Well last Saturday was obviously good, but I have no idea what's gonna happen tonight. Either they start strong and blow the doors off or it will be the same lazy, uninspired play that we saw against Preds and Avs.
I have already had a fight with my partner and a ####ty day at work today, not sure if watching the game is a good idea on top of that...

Lightning are a tough opponent but the team badly needs a win to stop their fall in the standings.
