Taking a while to get to 5000

Wow! Good for him. More term than I was expecting, and a higher $ too. Not a bad thing though!

A bit more than I thought he’d get, but we got an extra year on it. Could very well be a steal.

I like how it has some term, yet he's still an RFA (with arb rights) at the end.

Glad he's signed, but that's a way higher AAV than I was expecting. Term too, really.
Hopefully he makes it look like a bargain for the Flames.

Seems like a reasonable gamble, glad there is a RFA year left at the end.

Good to see him signed. I don't know if he's worthy of that aav just yet. Hope we see some progression this year, after a pretty disappointing past season.

I thought 3 years at around $2M made sense.
…but I also expected them to end up signing a 1 or 2 year deal, so this surprises me a bit.
Definitely don’t have any issues with it. I’m hopeful Dube can improve significantly on what he showed last season.

Little more than I expected but not bad. Like the player. Hope he can show some more in the next few years as it always seems like he's almost there, but not quite thus far.

Term is perfect. Was hoping for a 1 handle on the AAV, but getting 3 years is great.
Probably expensive in year one, but likely a bargain in years two and three.
So probably a pretty fair deal

He's played at a 30 point pace over the last 2 seasons.
38 points in 96 games (0.40 PPG)
So from that perspective $2.3M makes sense and is below the $100K for every point threshold.
I do like the three year term as well, this could be really good value as soon as next year if he can evolve to become a 40-50 point forward. I thought the Flames would want to go really cheap on a 1 year deal, so like the strategy here to be on some upside.

Agree with all of this. The AAV is arguably a bit high for what he's shown to date, but I think this has potential to be a very solid contract, particularly in years 2 and 3. I think Dube has a lot more to show and am optimistic for the future.
