2020-21 Fantasy Hockey Discussion

I saw a couple of other posts talking about potentially having a fantasy hockey discussion thread, so thought I’d create one

Mods please move or delete it in the wrong forum.
Ask your questions or add to the discussion.


I’ll start. I currently have John Gibson and Hellebuyck in my keeper league. Carter Hart has become a free agent in the league. I’m considering dropping Gibson and picking up Hart.

Pros - Flyers are a much stronger team than the ducks. and should see a lot more wins
Hart is a better goalie than he has performed

Cons - games have been somewhat split between Elliott and Hart
Hart is having a rough season so far
Gibson should get the most starts and wins. He also has a chance of getting more shutouts


Any inputs?

Gibson is one of the best goalies in the league, I’d hold onto him in a keeper league. Although Hart is certainly enticing for that purpose. If anything I’d try and swing a trade for a skater for Hellebuyck then scoop Hart.

the fantasy forums over at Dobber sports have this type of thing down to a science. In order to properly evaluate a roster move, typically you need to provide the following info:

league type (one year or keeper)
number of teams and number of keepers
league format (rotisserie, H2H)
scoring categories (points only, banger, etc.)
your current roster
other relevant settings (salary cap, move count/frequency limits)

the more of these you supply the more accurate the answers will be. in a vacuum I'd much rather have Hart in a keeper due to age and team quality. *edit, didn't realize you also had Helly...him plus Hart would be a great duo going forward. some crazy impatient managers in your league for Hart to go FA.

The league is 3 keepers. Should have mentioned that. And players can only be kept up to 3 years. Doubt I hold on to Gibson beyond this year.

I had Tavares and Kane which I ended up losing thanks to the 3 year max

I held on to Eichel (ugh), Pettersson (ugh) and Hellebuyck (Alright).

Hellebuyck and Gibson will both be good for years. Either is a good keeper and probably safer than Hart

Looks like I'm going to bench Zibanejad again. I have 3 open C spots and I can't realistically sit Malkin, Bergeron or Couture for this guy. Zibanejad was predicted to fall off last year's pace but man, what a terrible season he's having.

I joined another keeper league this off season . My first 3 picks were Eichel, Hart and zibanejad. Suffice to say this season is a write off .

His shot rates have been consistent.

Rumor is he was hit hard by Covid. I would expect a very strong second half from him.

I think the Ducks have mentally broken Gibson and he has no more effs left to give. I’d put my chips on Hart going forward.

Well Hart has gotten scooped up.
