Big game for a lot of reasons. Darryl's return brings some excitement and hope that this team isn't as bad as it looked under Ward. Also they simply have to win as much games as possible going forward against teams ahead of them in the standings.

Based on practice notes it appears its the same stuff Ward was using, just more up tempo. Maybe Sutter will have them better prepared for what Montreal is going to throw at them? Maybe they'll be more consistent? The proof will be in results. Until they show they can play better I think the other teams in the division have the answers to every question about the Flames.

I wouldn't expect a complete turnaround in game 1 under Sutter but I do expect better. A more complete effort. I also expect a win. No excuses given Montreal is coming in off a late night in Vancouver.

Really want them to make the playoffs as it would seem like a wasted year to me if they didn't. But, I also understand that they simply may not have enough time.

So, what I'm really interested to see is how certain players respond on the forecheck over the next 2-3 weeks. Namely, Bennett, Monahan, Backlund, and Lindholm. These are key players for this team..they need these guy creating on the forecheck more than thy have.

Positional play. Good Shots (not from perimeter) traffic in front. Protect your goalie. And forwards better backcheck like crazy and everybody get sticks in passing lanes .

Let's get back to being the HWMF team in thr league. Get back that identity and MOJO from long ago.
