They want Quebec to pay for Alberta's oil industry ... Young Quebecers don't want to give their money, again, for years to the oil companies.''

Im confused. What the hell does this even mean? Is there something I missed that had the Feds taxing young Quebecers and turning it over to "Alberta" oil companies?

Why the hell does that ######ppe keep referring to europe and the UK etc.?! What a loser!!! First of all as you point out his premise is laughable and secondly, as with his sports wish they're not like the UK or the European Union. Were it to be the same as the UK he'd have to be a different country not a Province. If he were to attain that; which I know he wants, then he can get different standards. It's like Cornwall asking for a different governmental; and in this case environmental, policy than say Yorkshire, at least at this point.
Also the EU is a collection of countries that is trying to erase borders within that union both trade, travel, monetary, he's trying to create one and opt out. Seperatists suck.

Ancient PQ trick: If we lie and say that we pay more into Canada than it gets back enough, eventually people will believe it.
It is one of the biggest reasons why I would love to see Quebec seperate. Reality would smack Quebec hard, and it would be a well deserved smack.

Seriously, if I was leader, I'd tell Quebec to friggen leave already and take their 'distinct culture' with them. They can forget about taking the Canadian dollar, passports, and everything else they think we'll let them take. I'm sick of the Canadian government bending over for Quebec. They need to be told to take a flying leap. No one else gets the same breaks they do, especially Alberta who pays so that Quebec can retain their distinction. **** that.

Geez that guy is really going for it.
That hockey thing last week was an embarassment so I guess taking shots at Alberta is the new hope to get a few more suckers on side.
It's sort of like filling up your car (for free) and then shaking your fist at the gas station owner for polluting the world.

I always thought it was quite interesting that Quebec wanted to leave Canada and those things it perceived as negatives of being in Confederation, however, when they left, they wanted to keep the things they liked.
If I were Prime Minister, I think what I'd probably do is tell Quebec to choose one of the following two options:
1. Leave, and by leave, I mean completely.
or
2. Quit your bellyaching, be a part of Canada, and be treated as equals with the rest of the provinces.
Quebec is one of the few examples in history where a conquered people were allowed to maintain any amount of their "distinctness" by their conquerors.

When I was in the UK I ended up talking with a guy who operated some type of tourism business in the Scottish highlands. When he found out we were from Canada he started going on and on about how much he disliked Quebecers and how many bad experiences he has had with them through his business. He really liked Canadians in general, but made a very clear cut distinction when it came to people from Quebec.
He also happened to know all about Quebec separatism and offered the following advice:
The Canadian government offers $100,000 and a free trip to France to anyone who wants to go. If you decide to go, you cannot come back. If you decide to stay you have to shut up.
He seemed to think it would work great!

The BQ really lives and dies upon the soft sovereigntist vote in Quebec. These kind of crazy outbursts from Duceppe maybe convince some of the softies to abstain from voting or to swing into the Liberal camp. The Conservatives may even have a chance at gaining some votes in Quebec this time around. Duceppe seemed like a fairly decent and reasonable politician for a sepertist last election.
I guess now that he thinks the BQ post Gomery has a good chance at gaining majority popular vote in Quebec he has come out swinging.

Deliberately ticking Anglo-Canada off is part of the process of seceeding . . . .
The strategy is to convince Quebecers they want to go and the second part is to have anglo-Canada in a sufficient lather to say "fata off."
The thought in the 1990's was that demographics - immigration - might take care of the issue by itself but some pundits now wonder about that, indicating new Quebecers are embracing the cause rather than overwhelming it.
In any event, it would be hard to visualize given the pervasive pockets of anglo's throughout the province.

You know, I used to think Duceppe was smart... then I hear crap like this, and I realize, he's just the same kind of moron... I hope Harper and even Martin eat him alive over these ridiculous statements that have absolutely no basis in fact... Texas companies pay less tax than Alberta companies?? dream on, moron.

That may be the strategy but it was proven to be ineffective in the 90s. The truth of the matter is that Quebec will never seperate, not enough Anglos want to happen and the same with Francophones. It just isn't all that great of an idea.

Duceppe has it so easy. He doesn't need to win votes anywhere but Quebec so he has the luxury of bashing provinces to make Quebec out to be a victim.
I do sort of see where he is coming from, but trying to make it out as a "Quebec vs. Alberta" issue is a huge misrepresentation about the issue.
