Icon30 Panthers sign Anthony Duclair (1 year, $1.7 million AAV)

Sixth team for the Duke, it'll be interesting to see if he can keep up his great play from Ottawa

I can't recall, were there reports of what he wanted from Ottawa or what they offered?

Glad he signed somewhere. the initial reports out of Ottawa they offered him a raise on a multi year deal. Think him taking on the roll as agent backfired.

I imagine Florida pushed hard to get this done after the injury to Steen.. as I am sure he could have fit in well with St. Louis.

It's worth noting that Duclair is still an RFA after this deal, and Florida now holds the rights on his next contract. Great deal by Florida.

Good signing by Panthers. Hope Duclair can find some consistency and stability

Welp, that's not a huge surprise especially as he fired his agent in the midst of a global pandemic...

I approve of this signing. We need scoring wingers badly, and he comes in pretty cheap. I don't think much of his 200 foot game, but it can't be any worse than Dadonov or Hoffman were defensively last year. Plus, kid's got speed to spare. Always a nice asset to have.

My new projected lineup:

Huberdeau-Barkov-Connolly
Duclair-Wennberg-Hornqvist
Saarela-Acciari-Vatrano
Lomberg-Verhaege-Hinostroza
Tippett?

Yandle-Ekblad
Weegar-Stralman
Nutivaara-Gudas
Keeper/Stillman/Priskie

Bobrovsky/Driedger

*Weak at center and the second pair on defense, but much of the success rests on Bobrovsky's shoulders. Could be another long season, but there are some guys to keep an eye on coming up.

Given the sudden nature, on the eve of free agency, to ask to cut ties with Ottawa, he had someone in his ear all but promising that suitors would be lining up for him, or at very least pumping his tires.

Now weeks later, he is left with table scraps in order to get onto a team for a January-ish start.

And anyone else who decided to hold off signing in The Before Times.

He could have got a better deal if he hadn't represented himself
