I am back at work today. It is very quiet.
Hopefully a simple Game Day Thread will bring about a simple win.

Play hard. Hit. Shoot. Save. Score. Repeat.

Go Flames Go.

The streak starts NOW!

Looking forward to going undefeated in this decade.

However, getting a win tonight would be good enough for now.

GFG!

I hope the Flames can win this game so we can all feel happy and post celebratory gifs later on tonight.

However if the Flames lose we'll all be sad and no one will be celebrating.

Kristen Anderson @KdotAnderson
Guy Gaudreau alert at #Flames skate today that means the Dad’s/mentors trip is coming up ... always neat to see the players interact with their families. But, personally, I’m a bigger fan of the moms trip. They’re way more fun

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
#Flames tonight vs. New York Rangers:

Tkachuk-Lindholm-Mangiapane
Gaudreau-Monahan-Rieder
Bennett-Backlund-Frolik
Lucic-Ryan-Dube

Giordano-Brodie
Hanifin-Hamonic
Kylington-Andersson

Talbot

Rieder in the top 6? Good for him, but it also highlights the massive underachievement of the forwards on this team. A guy who made the team on a PTO is now slotted in above Backlund, Bennett and Frolik...

Finally...Backlund as the 3rd line C where he belongs.

These are the best looking forward lines of the season. Just gotta switch Rieder and Dube now.

Feeling a win tonight!

Good to see Talbot in. They signed him to be a tandem guy. Now's the time to play him, give Rittich some time to re-coop and refocus. If Talbot plays strong, I'd start running with him until he falters.

No point in arguing the disappointment of the forwards this year, as five on five they've been terrible.

But I think you're reading too much into slotting in this case.

Seems to me this is an attempt to basically eliminate the fourth line altogether and run with four lines.

Reuniting the old Bennett-Backlund-Frolik line left one player homeless and needing to play with Monahan and Gaudreau.

So the Backlund at wing experiment comes to an end. Probably for the best -- he's better off as the "third line center" IMO, especially with Frolik and Bennett. Rieder is an interesting choice as 2RW as I know many have been wanting Dube in that spot.

Looking at the schedule, this could be a pivotal game this year. Another ugly start/loss and we're looking at three straight games against teams that recently outplayed us:

- @ Wild
- @ Blackhawks
- vs Wild

This is also the first time Rittich has faltered. If Talbot plays well I think it's his net to lose going forward.

Favorite line combos of the year! 6 goal effort incoming. 2 from Bennett and a fight.

I really like this lineup but hope we can get one more right shot top 6 player to put in the mix. Maybe they can make a call up and see if Gawdin would be able to provide a bit of scoring for a short time in the top 6.

Put Guy behind the Flames bench. Tried just about everything else to motivate his young son.

These are the best balanced lines in years imo. Really excited to watch them tonight. Basically if everybody plays to their highest potential you'd have two 1st lines and two 3rd lines. Obviously that will only occasionally happen but I still think the depth looks quite solid.

Already in Ward's short time as coach I've seen a lot of interesting lineup construction and things tried that needed to be tried. I wonder if Ward is accepting more input from players, coaches and management about lineup construction than previous coaches or if it's mostly him driving the thinking.
