Well Hedman was hurt but looking very likely all three guys will be watching the rest of the playoffs on TV.
So are these really the best d men in the league? Debatable I suppose but kind of shows what position the game changers play in today’s NHL.
The best defenseman in the league had no impact on his series, whereas one of the best centers absolutely dominated.

I think Giordano takes it. It's the Hockey Writers who vote on this one, and Gio's backstory makes it a compelling case.

FWIW, Giordano was the winner in the PHWA's mid-season voting.

That's a good point and I was just wondering a few days ago if these individual awards should also include the playoffs. Cooper may win coach of the year after being out coached by Tortorella. There are other examples as well that the playoffs may influence a writers vote. Maybe not in the Norris this year.

Homer glasses off. Gio has been the only one most media have been clamoring for all year. The other guys are usually mentioned in passing.
Gio for Norris.

One caveat is that it’s Canadian media. Reilly is the only other player in a Canadian market with a shot.

It would be a surprise if Gio doesn't win IMO. I wouldn't say this has been Burns or Hedman's best seasons and I think Gio was simply better. He deserves his due as he's been quietly one of the best defensemen in the NHL over the last six years. Only 48 points away from 500 career regular season points for an undrafted free agent that spent a year in Russia. Pretty good story.

Should be a slam dunk
I'd be surprised if the 2nd place guy is within 50% of Gio's first place votes

They don’t influence votes, seeing as the voting is done before the playoffs even start. The “finalists” are just the three top vote getters.

Well the voting was based on the regular season so yes these were the best dmen based on the voting which is done and over with before the playoffs began

I’d be stunned if it wasn’t Gio. Fantastic all season in all situations. Should be a slam dunk.

I realize that. My question was whether the playoff performances should be included when making a selection.
