Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
This is an upbeat #Flames team on ice for practice in Washington. Back in action tomorrow against the Ovechkin-less Capitals.

Derek Wills @Fan960Wills
#Flames don’t look like a team that hasn’t played or practiced in eight days. Lots of jump. Really sharp.

Roll that lineup through the end of the season.

Last season's break was when the Flames started to spiral downhill. In fact, the franchise has a history of slumping as we approach the final stretch. I have faith that this team can buck the trend and continue to play well. I hope the players and coaches are aware of the history and do what's necessary to avoid a slide.

I'll be at the game with some friends who are Caps fans, so a Flames win would be extra nice. I'm worried about the Caps being in a 7 game losing streak - wounded animal situation. I just hope the Flames can come out and set the tone early!

I think you can throw streaks out after this long a break.
There need not be any concern about the Flames faltering down the stretch. Not based on history anyway.
Flames are one of few of the top teams that have not experienced an extended losing streak. Will be interesting to see if they can keep that going.

I don't know that there's some history of a late season slide. In GG's first season they made a pretty good push. Hartley's good year as well.

Last year also had the Mike Smith injury and Rittich started to feel the effect of too much pressure. Then GG lost the room. It's different this year.

I for one am just happy there is flames hockey again!!

I don't think we have as much to worry about on this final portion of the season compared to last year. Its a different team mentality with new players that all seem to be gelling. Add in the fact they shouldn't have to deal with the pressure of battling with the 8 other teams trying to make it into the final spots for the playoffs, might mean they play a looser and more confident hockey.

I worried about that too, but I think this is going to be a team eager to get back out there.

They left rolling, but in need of some rest. I know I'd be antsy to get back to crushing teams nightly once I filled the tank.

Winning is dope. We should just do that more.
