Nice write up.
Totally agree on the Simmonds acting. Also agree that Rittich stopped everything he should have, and the Flyers don’t score either without the help of the Flames.
A few other things I noticed. For a pretty ugly game, lots of really nice moments.
- Flames PK in the first period - Janko and Hamonic, mainly, held the puck on the boards for about 30 seconds starting at 4:20 left in the period, while the ref was yelling to move it. Impressive
- Contribution of the D : Hanifin on Tkachuk’s goal.
Obviously Brodie’s winner was great read, skating and hustle. Also, great play by Hanifin on Tkachuk’s tying goal to be aggressive, forcing the D to come back and cover him, creating room in the high slot for Tkachuk to get open and to turn and position himself for the shot
- On Rittich’s gaffe, love the way everybody handled it
- Rasmus - the broadcast showed he gave a pat on the head to Rittich after the coughup
- Rittich noted that Smitty has talked to him in the past about puck handling. Paraphrasing, it is something that you should do, and sometimes mistakes happen, but as long as it’s not common, then it is a risk you can live with and get over.
-Tkachuk noted that they wanted to get it back for Rittich.
- Rittich afterwards when asked if he talked to Tkachuk after tying it back up and what he said : ‘Probably Thanks, bro. I love you’. Something like that. Haha.
- Loubo is a good guy. While they put up a horrifying montage of Smith goals against, he stood there and defended him.
- Guy Gaudreau - hey man, OT was starting. Awesome
- in the celebratory scrum after the OT winner, one thing is that the scrum was great, and also if you look, Rittich had a whole bunch of trapper in Brodie’s face. Love it.
