Dealing with scam/spam calls
It is beyond annoying how many garbage calls I get a week on my cell, my phone identifies them as spam and they don't ring but the bastards can still get to your voicemail and leave a robo message and I can't figure out an app or way to stop that. I have seriously considered just leaving my mailbox full or deactivating it but I shouldn't have to because I do get some voicemail I need to hear. How does everyone else deal with this?

Is deactivating voicemail an option? sign me up!
They've picked up for me in the last few weeks-months. I notice a number them have the same area code and first three digits as mine, and my phone doesn't mark those as spam for whatever reason
Also a ton of political surveys. Seems like way more than past elections.

If you have Telus or Koodo, look into their spam blocking feature. You have to sign in to your account from a computer to access it. I can count on one hand the # of spam calls that have gotten through in over a year and a half.

Telus has call control, not sure if Rogers has something similar?
I finally turned my call control on a few months ago, and it's been glorious. Not a single scam call.

I find the call screening feature on Android quite effective. They never leave a voice mail.

It is a call block app with lots of features. So far I have two spam calls that it has logged as intercepted, seems to be doing its job well.

I've had the same experience. I was going to add Call Control today, but I'm disappointed I can't import my Contact as authorized callers, and that the limit for authorized callers is 25.

I just answer them. Gives me a little bit of satisfaction to **** with them for a bit. Doesn’t help the big picture problem of scammers but I enjoy it.

Didn't Sliver regret doing that once? Pissed off the wrong one using an air horn and then they called in higher frequencies at inopportune times for a few months?

Noticing an increase in spam calls. I used to get one a week and now it’s five or six. Got one from Moscow today.

Telus's call control is great. However, I am waiting for a new credit card and it's supposed to be sent to a local bank branch and then they would call me to come pick it up. I assume that might be an automated call, but it won't get through now. It's been well over the number of days it should have taken, and I got an email reminder to activate the card. I checked my call control list of numbers and there is a 403 number that didn't connect through. Guess I'll head down to the bank and ask.

Another vote for Telus' call control. It's pretty brilliant.
Also, you can proactively add numbers to a white list. Just go into the settings in your account on the Telus website, you'll see a spot for it there. I've added a couple of toll-free numbers in there that I want to be let through when they call.

Yeah I went through something similar trying to add an e-transfer recipient and never getting the robo call to confirm. Took me way to long to realize what was happening, check the blocked numbers, and whitelist it

Honestly I just started answering and getting to where I speak to a person. I did that for a week and they stopped.

Next up: spam texts. Been getting one a day lately. I could see this getting out of hand in the future.

I don't get much for texts or phone calls, but anyone else seeing an absurd amount of spam emails that bypass their junk folder lately? I get like minimum 10 a day. Fake emails from DHL, Costco, Shoppers, Canada Post, WalMart, Tim Hortons... I just report as spam and delete but it's pretty annoying.
