Default Create your own Olympic teams

So, if NHL teams were going, who would you put on each team? I assume Johnny makes Team USA, I think Backlund makes Sweden.

Johnny and Tkachuk go to USA.

Giordano might actually get onto the 1A Team Canada defence corps this time around. Still debatable though, way too many elite Canadian D.

Frolik and Jagr probably get invites to play for Czechs but Jagr would just stay home. There's a couple goalies ahead of Rittich too like Mrazek or Neuvirth, but I think he could still be the best of the bunch.

would be tough to get Tkachuk in.

US wingers would include Kane, Kessel, Wheeler, Oshie, Zucker, Kreider, and Gaudreau

on the bubble would be Tkachuk, Pacioretty, van Riemsdyk, even Brock Boeser

I think it would depend who is selecting the US Team. After the World cup debacle they probably go with speed/skill over a character/skill guy like Tkachuk

Tkachuk already plays big defensive minutes. He'd be a lock for their fourth line.

Remember hockey USA doesn't bring their best players, they bring GRIT.

Canada probably loads up on centres and makes some of them play wing. This would have been Stamkos' year to finally play. Crosby, Bergeron, Getzlaf, Toews. McDavid and Matthews on the bubble

Matthews is American. Would have been cool to see him pair with Kane. Gaudreau feeding them both.

I think Tkachuk would make it since Brian Burke is always involved in Team USA.

If anyone knows and is a fan of what Matthew brings it would DEFINITELY be belligerent Brian. Truculence to a T.

Tkachuk makes it over Kreider, Zucker and probably Oshie. Boeser absolutely does too.

Gaudreau - Matthews - Kane
Pacioretty - Pavelski - Oshie
Saad - Johnson - Wheeler
Tkachuk - Eichel -

Hard to believe Oshie wouldn't be there (after his theatrics last time). Tkachuk isn't a lock, but I'd have to think the other 10 guys above are? Lots of possibilities to fill the last few spots. Do Foligno, Dubisnky, and Atkinson play on the same line in CBJ? If so, they would warrant consideration as a turn key line.

D isn't nearly as strong, but top 4 are probably?

Suter - Faulk
Werenski - Byfuglien

With Quick/Schneider in goal it's a pretty decent team.

All this thread does is make me sad we won't be seeing these teams.

It's OK but only Kane and Gaudreau would be a lock for Team Canada. Most of those guys wouldn't even make a tryout team for Canada IMO.

I get what you're saying but Wheeler has more points than Kane and he's tied with Gaudreau. He's good enough to crack Canada's roster I would think.

Wheeler is tremendously underrated.
