There's a new Superman movie coming out in 2006, to be directed by Bryan Singer. Here are some images of the new Superman, Brandon Routh (rhymes with mouth).

Many fans aren't happy with his appearance, saying that he looks more like Superboy than Superman and it looks like he's wearing a super-wetsuit with super briefs and a super-small shield. What do you guys think? Kevin Spacey has been cast as the new Luthor and that's a good choice but Kate Bosworth is Lois Lane? I think they could've done better.

Tough act to follow.

Red is a liitle pale. Either:

1) Mrs. Kent didn't use Tide for bright colors.
2) Supe left his costume in the window of his LeBaron and the color faded.

I though Kevin Spacey was tied up playing Dr. Evil.

Gawd those pictures look awful. That lowrider gonch look just doesn't translate well to Superman. Couldn't they find a happy medium between Christopher Reeve's Grandma Underwear and a bikini? The middle one where he's flying with Lois looks like a campy joke.

The vaguely retro look and colors of the costume are alright I guess, but I hear Rod Stewart called and he wants his boots back.

Bryan Singer has a blog about the making of this movie and it all comes across as a decent looking movie and of course The Usual Suspects is a great movie, but these pictures don't hold a lot of promise.

Well, this Superman is supposed be more modern so...they made his cape and super-tiny boots maroon leather? Right...

Is it just me or does hollywood tend to cast way younger looking people in their big blockbuster films now...remember when Michael Keaton was cast as Batman? That rarely happens now, they seem to always cast "boyish" looking types (Batman begins was an exception to the rule)

Well I guess I'll be the first to say I really like it. Looks sleeker, I like the deep red they chose and the smaller emblem. Looks less "cartoony" to me. I think he looks really sharp.

Don't like the look at all. Kinda dweebish... and doesn't he know he is supposed to point his toes when he's flying? Sheesh.

Frist impressions not good - i will wait on it though.

I am assuming its like the Batman thing, sign the guy for 5 movies. Couldnt really do that with an older guy.

Also, the bonus of having someone young is that is unlikely he will be typecased by anything esle.

Is it just me or does he look like the guy from the AGD from SNL. hehhehe

Marvel has had huge success with recent comic movies. X-men, Spiderman, lesser extent Hulk, The Blade series.

DC just wants a slice of the pie. First The new Batman now this?
I have never liked Superman, he blows chunks.
The comics suck and movies suck.
