Islanders put Halak on trade market after agent's twitter blast
Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Word tonight is that after @walsha Twitter blast of NYI carrying three goalies, NYI GM has let league know Jaroslav Halak is available.
This is what Walsh wrote earlier today:
Allan Walsh @walsha
Hard to figure out NY Islanders using 3 goalie system for 2nd year. Biggest issue is goalies don't get enough practice time to stay sharp.
Allan Walsh @walsha
Starting goalie for NY Islanders last game had only 1 quality practice in last 5 days before Penguins game. Going on 2 years of this now.

Ottawa should be all over this. Hammond down and Anderson stressed.

I could see the Oilers trading for Halak. They have yet to trust their backup in a game.

why didn't one of our goalies agents do this last year??? Maybe Tre would have traded one instead of having the 3 headed monster most of the season.
I think LA will pick him up, what is a guy like him worth these days?

Most of the season? As in the first three weeks?

The Hurricanes should do a three-way deal, or a second deal. Bring in Halak and send Lack to Ottawa or LA

Because no one in their right mind would have traded for one of those duds?

I could see LA picking him up. They really need a goalie with Quick out.
I think a second round pick would get it done.

Kings can't afford a $4.5 million backup with an extra year on his contract. They need either an expiring contract with cap eaten or someone cheap. In addition the Kings are not desperate as Budaj has been fantastic for them.

I dont see a guy carrying a 5 million dollar salary and 4.5 cap hit into next yer garnering much interest. Teams seem pretty set in goal, and those with injuries will be seeking more cost effective short term replacements.

Yeah which makes more sense for the Islanders to waive/move Berube, who also happens to be a Walsh client, and has a cap hit of $675k that expires after this year.
Snow has been reluctant to move on from Berube after picking him on waivers last year despite him playing only 7 NHL and 5 AHL games last year for the Islanders organization (granted he put up some decent numbers).
