Default Sean Monahan injured; out for World Cup

On the fan, said he is no longer playing for team North America. Vincent Trocheck to replace him.

Well that's not good. Hopefully just minor.

Back strain, expected to be healthy for camp.

Sounds like a lot of these recent injuries are just precautionary. Not going to freak out until we hear more specifics.

Players dropping out left, right and centre, most with injuries that conveniently will keep them out of the World Cup, but will see them return for training camp. What a surprise.

From Sean...

“It’s just going to be some time off. It’s something I don’t want to hop into a practice at full speed right now. I want to take some time and make sure I’m good and make sure I don’t have anything nagging me during the season. It’s more precautionary than anything. I’m going to see our team trainers and doctors in the next couple of days to get everything sorted out.”

Thank goodness. I'd be okay with Johnny getting a back strain right now too.

Well, there goes any interest I had in the entire tourny. Johnny should stub his toe or something

That's disappointing as the World Cup got a bit less exciting, but as long as he's 100% for the start of the NHL season

It's all good.

Damn, I was looking forward to McLellan naming him Captain over McJesus or Nuge.

Ah well. This just guarantees a top line of Johnny and McDavid.

Maybe he's mad a Gaudreau for not signing yet.
Gaudreau: "No contract talks during the World Cup."
Monahan: "Okay then, No Monahan during the World Cup."

Interesting that it's a sprain in his back. There was speculation this time last year he was suffering from a back issue prior to training camp.

He always has a strained back, carrying the team with him sorry just had to, too easy.

Either way just goes to show how serious Sean takes his training and how much he cares for the team knowing it's more important he's good for the regular season and not some silly World Cup thing.

Damn, this is disappointing to read. Was really looking forward to seeing him play amongst the league's best.

Does the WC Seriously not start for another 2 weeks? crap. Do teams hold their camps concurrently, with just the WC players missing?

The WC is pretty stupid. It'll be interesting to see how hard the players go. What is NA really playing for? What is Team Europe really playing for?
