Montreal isn't super warm but it should be comfortable in the fall. It is a great city.

Las Vegas. Depending on how good you are at poker you may even make a profit.

San Diego? Not sure if it would work money wise given the exchange rate but if you found a good flight deal you might be able to make it work.
I like the Montreal idea but you'd have to go in Sept.
You could probably find a Mexico trip for that amount. Maybe go to an all inclusive and sit by the pool for a week? Not sure I'd do airbnb in mexico. You'll probably wake up in a bathtub full of ice with no kidney.

2016 Penticton Young Stars Sept. 16-19. Most of your budget would go to booze, I suspect.

I just went to Las Vegas and it was pretty fun. Rented a car drove out to the grand canyon then went to antelope canyon. Then drove to LA went to Disney Land and Universal then went to San diego.
Hotels in Vegas are cheap and same with renting a car. Granted that was like 26 hrs if driving over two weeks though. Depending what you like there's alot of options arohnd California and the flights are very reasonable

With that kind of a budget, you'll be limited to Mexico/South America. Anywhere else, the flights and hotels alone are bound to take up the entire budget.
I'd would look into Iceland though. You can get surprisingly cheap flights there. You could do Vegas, but obvisouly, if you want to drink/gamble at any establishments that won't be in the budget. With South America/Mexico, you'll be able to get all the booze you want.

This is legit a pretty good idea. Okanogan in Sept can be beautiful. Relatively close. No exchange rate to worry about. Watch some hockey, hang out on the beach. Penticton, Kelowna etc all offer good party opportunities or can be suited to a more relaxing type of vacation.

Puerto Vallarta all the way. You could get your room and flight for $700 and live like a king with the other $800. Just avoid the all-inclusive resorts.

Medellin, Colombia is an amazing city. The flight would be long though. And you may come back married.

The hotels in the Okanogon are not super cheap these days. Also, things might be different during a big hockey tournament, but Penticton has one bar that people actually go to. Not sure I'd want to go there as a lone wolf.
IMO you're much better off going to a place with lots of other travellers, as that makes it much easier to meat people.

Well I said the Okanagan, not just penticton. He also didn't specify he was looking for a place with a ton of night clubs. There are plenty of places to hang out and grab food or get a drink.
Also, Airbnb would take care of the hotel problem.
Is he looking to meet people? Maybe he wants to be alone for a week.

Cabo San Lucas.
Very safe and can do some exploring on your own while you stay at an all-inclusive (got your food and booze covered). I think it's off-season there so may also be cheaper.

Mexico or Cuba would fit your price range. Depending on your interests, you can either stay at a resort the whole time or get out and explore.

And judging from what I've seen, he'd probably be marrying up the attractiveness ladder.
