I hope Jagr is coming in. Why wasn't he picked in the first place?

Yeah, Jagr is at a stage where he needs to ration his energy for games that pay him.

It appears the winners of the Cash Grab Cup will be the players that weren't invited or pulled out due to injury.

It's amazing that all these injuries are severe enough to keep them out of the World Cup but not severe enough to keep them from missing Training Camp. What a coincidence!

Remember when Steven Stamkos was trying to transform himself into the bionic man to try and play in the Olympics?
Yeah. That's the difference. The players care about a gold medal. And thus, I care about a gold medal.
With Monahan out, my interest in this tournament is purely to watch Gaudreau and that's it.

Apparently the Czechs are down two more:
Roman Jedlicka
Roman Jedlicka – @jedli
Another players who will NOT play for team Czech republic at World Cup of Hockey: #Flyers Radko Gudas and #SJSharks Tomas Hert.
Roman Jedlicka
Roman Jedlicka – @jedli
Radko Gudas has wrist injury and Tomas Hertl's knee is still not ready

And yet Carey Price is Canada's presumptive starter.

You do realize that the National Hockey League is a cash grab for the league, owners, and most assuredly the players, and that the Stanley Cup Playoffs are a MASSIVE cash grab for the league and owners?!?!

Czech GM Martin Rucinsky: "Hudler didnt answer phone calls & messages. His agent Petr Svoboda then told us Jiri didnt have interest to go."

This.
The NHL should have never entered the Olympics so that the biggest event for player to join was the Canada/World Cup (like soccer World Cup). But once they entered the Olympics then that becomes the biggest event and they should never leave. Cannot reboot the World Cup and have it mean the same. That ship has sailed. NHL is throwing away something 100 other sports wish they had.
Look at the World Baseball Classic and how much trouble they are having, and that's without an Olympics.

Actually the NHL is a business. The regular season and playoffs is their annual product as their business revolves around it. The World Cup is a cash grab for said business as well as the NHLPA.

All of it is an attempt to make money. Where do you draw the line for "cash grab"? Should they never try new things?
