Frankly I don't think Iginla should have won even if he did get one more 5th place vote. Theodore had 26 first place votes and Iginla had 23.
Theodore was on 58 ballots, and Iginla was on 61. So Iggy was on 3 more ballots and still only tied because he was voted 2nd, 3rd, and 5th more often than Theodore was.

I think that if Iginla was on the Rangers and put up the same totals while missing the playoffs, he would've won in a landslide.

Remember that Theodore wasn't even a runaway vezina trophy winner either. In fact, the voting for the vezina was a tied vote too.
There's acceptable reasons why Theodore wasn't on some voters top 5. There is simply no acceptable reason why Iginla should have been left off of a voters top 5. Sure, leave him out of first place because his team didn't make the playoffs, that I can understand, even if I don't necessarily agree with. But out of the top 5 completely can only be explained by that a voter was completely ignorant, at the very best.
The respect of his peers should be worth more than the aggregate opinions of some media folks (sigh) including culpable dirtbags.
What was great about that year was going to the dome wondering if Iggy was going to score one or two, and being rewarded most of the time. Beast mode was brought forth this campaign

You can make the argument that 2006-07 was even better. Iginla was on track to easily post his first 100 point season when Bryan Allen hit him in the knee - deliberate, dirty, shameless -- and forced him to miss 12 games, leaving him with 39 goals and 94 points. And iginla still pounded the crap out of him on one leg!

Good lord, I forgot Brett Hull had 86 ####ing goals that season.
Eighty six.

That video is hilarious seeing his line mates at the time. Celebrating goals with the likes of Jamie Wright, Steve Begin and Ronald Petrovicky! I know he wasn't playing with those guys for most of it (Conroy and McCammond correct for most of the year). Seeing some of those names makes me really excited about the team we have now!
